Thank you very much for that. I always change tyres at 5 yrs, knowing that it is 1.6 makes life a lot easier. If it were 3mm then I would have at least 4mm on the tyres, which would shorten tyre life considerably.

Can anyone tellme what the min tyre tread depth is for France? We are going in September. I enquire as for some reason the tyre garage told me they thought it was 3mm not 1.6mm. Looking on the internet is seems it is 1.6mm, except for winter tyres, but I want to be sure. Thank you. Alex
