Driving to Lake Garda - route plan help?

Suggest you use the St Gotthard tunnel and plan to go through on a Sunday morning - no lorries so very easy! Also the onward journey to Gardra is easier on a Sunday, particularly round Milan. There is a handy site to overnight in Altdorf about 1 hour from the tunnel on the north side. Alison

    Missing the Gotthard tunnel !!

Sorry - this reply is very late - just been doing some catch-up surfing. The first time we used the St G tunnel it was a weekday with huge hold-ups and lots of lorries. Last year we made the decision to drive from Alsace on Staurday afternoon, through Switzerland, spending the night at Altdorf...

2 days from Calais would be tight. There is a good overnight stop at Camping International Lido in Luzerne ( take your own beer - very expensive ).but we make this our second night stop. The St Gotthard tunnel is scary but the pass is a good road, particularly down into Italian side. You often...

Camping a la Ferme in Provence

Peter - try St Bartolemy just outside Bauduen on the road to St Croix. A very quiet, unspoilt small site with one very good toilet block.Although this site is at the opposite end of the Lac de St Croix from the main gorge, it is quieter and there are many small beaches for swimming and...
