BBC Lincolnshire Discover Nature Weekend 2011

It's back! Now in its fourth year, the BBC Lincolnshire Discover Nature Weekend 2011 will be from Fri 29th April to Mon 2nd May. It's a weekend of nature activities for all ages, at a farm site near Lincoln. The RSPB and Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust are among the partner organisations...

First time on a Motorway with a caravan.

I would say the biggest thing is, as mentined before, the effect of large vehicles passing/you passing them. I find the most noticeable effect is when you overtake a lorry, it will first suck you towards it, and then away as you pass. You soon get used to this! Most lorry drivers are very...

    Honda CRV or Toyota Rav

We had a 2008 RAV4 2.2 disel until recently (bigger caravan - needed bigger car). It was great - towed really well, not a single problem with it. The only negatives were that the boot space is not huge, and there was no spare wheel.

All the EHU pitches have now gone, but still several non EHU available. Have a look at www.facebook.com/bbcnatureweekend and see some of the things we got up to last year!

    BBC Lincolnshire Nature Weekend 2010

If you didn't see us last year then you won't this year! It's the same location as a year ago.

    RENAULT SCENIC DCI

You were badly advised! We got a letter from Renault which basically said that the "driver only" figure could be ignored as long as the Gross Train Weight of 3050 Kg was not exceeded. We totted up the weights and found that we could tow our Ranegr 470/4 with our Grand Scenic with no risk of...

    BBC Lincolnshire Nature Weekend 2010

Bookings are now open for the 2010 BBC Lincolnshire Discover Nature Weekend. It's a great way of spending the early May bank holiday weekend, with nature related activities for all ages, at a lovely secluded farm location near Lincoln. Places are limited, so please book early via the website...

    RENAULT SCENIC DCI

Avoid like the plague! We had a 2005 Scenic 1.9dci from new. It didn't tow too badly, but in the 3 years that we owned it, it had to make more than 30 trips to the dealer to have faults sorted out. Brakes, electric mirrors, airbags, parking brake, heater, you name it, it went wrong. This...

Family Caravan Layouts - A bit of a moan!

Funny how opinions differ! We have an end bathroom and with our 8 and 6 year olds in the van, would never want anything different. Having an end washroom makes everything so much easier, as we use it all the time and never use site facilities. It's a pain making up the front double and side...

    Reserving Pitches on CC Sites

Yes, on every C&CC site I've been to, they escort you to a pitch which they have chosen for you. We've never had any objections the pitches we've been given, but it would be interesting to see whether it was possible to choose your own.

    C&CC Scarborough

We went a couple of years ago - found it far too busy and felt we had to keep an eye on the children every second as people were driving too fast on site access roads. Nothing wrong with the site itself though.

Paris PÇriphÇrique- to go or not to there?

The Rouen/A28 route is much more relaxing. I'd go this way every time.

Electrics and caravan on the ferry

I'm anticipating your next question! The best way to keep the fridge cold is to freeze some milk, juice etc and maybe even a frozen meal, plus some freezer packs, and load them in your fridge. This will keep it cold throughout the overnight crossing. Make sure you've had the fridge on its...

    renault scenic

NO - DON'T DO IT! We had a new 1.9dCi Grand Scenic and it was the most unreliable car I have owned. You name it, it went wrong - airbag system (5 visits to dealers to sort), complete failure of entire ventilation and aircon system, electric parking brake failed, electric mirrors failed, auto...
