    Mover socket location

My mover socket is also sited to prevent it's use when the EHU is connected within the locker. Thought it was deliberate placement by the techie who fitted it 'on my driveway'!

    Flushed with success!

If it’s of help to anyone… Thetford C250. Arrived on site for another trip. Flush sluggish and at first produced a quantity of dreaded black bits. After 2 days stopped altogether. Checked in the cassette space and found the ‘legs’ of the 3A fuse to be rather corroded. Used it to wiggle some...

Electrics in Avondale 515/4 golden Mayfair

Agree with birdman above - if you trace the positive cable from the battery you should find an obvious 20A fuse in an inline holder. Mine is in the battery box itself, but yours may be in the locker behind the box - between battery and distribution unit. Failing that if you need professional...

    Broken external door catch

You will need to clean off the old mastic and bed the replacement on ‘W4 mastic sealing strip’ . I think the plastic gets brittle and if like mine gets somewhat discoloured so the rereplacement will look the part too!

    2018 elddis crusader aurora

Some of the sellers will advise how to measure as I was looking for the same but so many sellers online I couldnt relocate the actual one - but associated with measuring the van body at ground level for a Maypole roof cover.

    Toilet smells 😟

Further to post #18 if you wish to remove the toilet entirely and refit after a thorough clean you should be able to identify fitting instructions for your loo find on Thetford website so you can identify how to remove.

    Dealer versus private purchase

You might find a dealer will offer new caravanners a starter pack either within the deal or at a reduced price, or will extend the warranty for you. If you do buy privately also make sure to see the van at the owners house and expect a full demo of all the appliances . Examine the service and...

    Water damage

As water appears to be soaking up from the bottom I would suspect the door panel to be the culprit and the place to start - dismantle, thoroughly clean off any old sealant and refit with sikafkex on the exterior surface taking care to wipe off any excess before it sets. Then worth trying...

Favourite autumn site with garden nearby?

Worth looking on the NGS website for gardens open to the public. For example we stayed at Ashridge C&MC site when it was Baldock open gardens - I think it was £5pp to visit several individual gardens that were open that weekend - as well as watching a few overs on the village ground and food at...

First time buyer advice (Damp Vans/What to look out for)

By your photos and description of spongy wall panelling that van has possibly been a leaker from leaving the factory and it may not be obvious where the ingress is occurring. A full damp report is important on any van you buy as around the windows would be a key area for multiple test sites...

    Caravan genius error?

July 25 edition - page 76 large photo - also visible on page 75 - any one else spotted the error? Is the EHU lead correctly inserted if the blue flap is left vertical as shown instead of horizontal within the fitting?

    Removable central chest of drawers.

My Elddis front chest sits in place and is restrained by a strap to each side. As the bed slats roll in to the lower section I have needed to remove it to access beneath when these jammed. I have always assumed it was a perhaps generic construction that in some layouts the cabinet would be...
