    Buying

I am on my 2nd new Bailey a Series 5 Provence, and the only fault to date has abeen a duff battery charger. The 1st Bailey had no problems at all. Fixed bed wise there the Bordeaux, Vendee/Provence (only difference is the Provence has a twin dinette rather than a fixed bed. It is also 2 feet...

    4 x 4 Drivers

We still live in a free country (just!!), every driver has the potential to be a lethal weapon, therefore you just take care when approaching hazards on the road. I do not own a 4x4 and can't justify one for the mileage I do in a year solo (30K), but I do not condem people for driving them if...

    What To Go For

I assume you have a car heavy enough to tow a twin axle. They do weigh substantially more than a single axle. Some more pointers: What are the insurance requirements i.e 2 wheelclamps, alarm, tracker system etc. Where is is going to be stored, is there room to get it in and out. I have a...

    Bailey Vendee

I have a Provence which is a Vendee with twin dinettes. Previously had end bathroom Abbeys. The way round the TV shelf issue is to buy an LCD TV. The rest of the van is as written by the journalists, and as Glenn says the separate shower is a boon. Noseweight is around 75kgs, but some...

    L shape lounges in vans

This is my 1st van with an L'shaped lounge, other 4 vans have been parralel. The main advantage is the floor space, which is even more noticeable with a van the size of the Provence. Now I've lived with it for 6 months, it has grown on me, but it's down to personal choice.

    Pageant Bretagne Series 5

1st deliveries of S5 Pageants took place early September 2004, not exactly sure when Bretagne made an appearance as all vans are built in batches, and will have built the more popular layouts 1st. I believe it has been sorted out, if you look at the caravantalk forum. I have a Provence myself...

    Caravan sales slump

Tony Then we are back to your original post stating 'why fit gas appliances? The manufacturers are only responding to the market, and basic caravans do not sell well. ABI produced the Adventurer for a short while, but sold about 2, why it was basic inside. They probably can't sell Discovery...

    MPG Whilst Towing

The comments re climbing as you come North is true if my records of towing over the last 9 years is anything to go by. My current Mondeo Tdci 130/Provence 1375kgs solo 47mgp, towing 30-32mpg Previous cars Skoda Octavia 110/Ranger 1200kgs solo 53mpg, towing 35 mpg Mondeo 2.0/Ranger 1200kgs...

    TEC Caravans

Simon There is certainly no snob value as far as I am concerned, as a Bailey Provence owner. Have looked at german vans in the past, but personally found them rather cold, mind you up until a couple of years ago Chintz (aaarrgghh!)was still dominating British vans, but I would need a Disco...

    Bathroom cleaner?

Use an orange based cleaner such as Astonish or Flash, then rinse away. Mind you vinegar also works wonders, and is far cheaper.

    Speed Camera Detects Caravan?

I believe they can be set for the different speed limitations of certain outfits, such as 60 for , 50 for car/caravans/trailers and lorries.

    Just an opinion

Clive He's an idiot, and apparently nothing can be done as long as he parks on the road and not the footpath. I was told to move my car a few weeks ago by plod (they'd had a complaint apparently) as approx 9" of front bumper was hanging over the pavement.
