Tow car advise for 1800kg+ Audi, BMW or VW

That’ll teach me to read the post properly next time 😂. On the X5 be aware of the fragility of the wing mirrors when putting on towing mirrors. I’m sure I’ve seen a post on here before about these. Mine cracked when putting the Milenco ones on, the BMW casings just aren’t strong enough

Tow car advise for 1800kg+ Audi, BMW or VW

Have you considered the Audi Q5 or SQ5? Both tow 2400kg with 110kg nose weight and have an excellent 3.0litre v6 turbo diesel engine (SQ5 is twin turbo). Similar size to your XC60. I’ve had both and are excellent tow cars. Current SQ5 tows an Elddis 860 so similar size to you 840 and tows it...

It's Got Me Again!!! Panel Cracks!!!

I’ve got an Elddis Magnum GT 860 dealer special from Pearman Briggs. It’s 4.5 years old and rear panel has just started cracking. Called the dealer and it’s booked in for end of April for end caps to be bonded on all covered under warranty. They said that this is a permanent fix and not a...

    Cycle rack for car

I’ve got a MTB event next Sunday down in Salisbury and the start line happens to be next to a caravan park so I’m going down in the caravan for the weekend! I’ll take some more photos and send them across when I put the bike on the roof so try and explain it better 👍

    Cycle rack for car

No, I put the bike rack carrier onto the roof bars first. Then lift the bike up. Another tip is to get the clamping bar on the bike rack carrier at a rough angle first (45degrees) so you can attempt to slide the bike frame into the carrier grip when you lift it up but clearly that depends on...

    Cycle rack for car

I’ve got a mountain bike so a couple of tips to follow. Firstly strap the front wheel to the frame so it doesn’t move when you lift it. Secondly I pick the bike up above my head and use the caravan step next to the car and lift it up and on. I also check to make sure I don’t have any zips etc on...

    Air Awnings.

Air for me all day long. No longer do I risk damaging the sidewalls with stray poles. I can put my vango Sonama awning up on my own but it can be hard, sometimes I use a pulley system to pull it along the awning rail. (Touch wood) we’ve never had a puncture but I know plenty of people that have...

Possible miuse of vehicle while at dealer

My SQ5 went into a nameless Audi dealer for routine service. I’ve got an AA smart breakdown dongle fitted into the EOBD socket for DTC alerts and also acts as a tracker. Got the car back later in the day and I thought I’d take a look at the dongle on my app. The technician who did the work...

    Emovis tag,worth it?

Well worth the small outlay for these tags. Up until covid, we went to France for years on end and it wasn’t until the last few years we got a tag. Three benefits for me. 1) The wife doesn’t have to hang out of the window trying to pay anymore. 2) we purchased an 8foot wide caravan so those...

Motor mover. Necessity or nice to have?

Not sure I’d get our ‘van on the drive without the motor mover! Great investment. Not cheap but worth every penny

Creaky floor on 2020 Coachman VIP 520

I had the same issue on our Elddis. Turned out I had put too much force through the corner steadies when I put them down. I’m much more gentle now and no more creaking. Might be worth lifting the legs and see if it does it then perhaps.
