    Alarms

Hi, You could use a car alarm but it might need modifying. The one in my Fleetwood is fitted as standard and is a modified motorcycle alarm. I have a movement sensor in the van (not difficult) but the alarm sounds if the mains lead is unplugged, if the mains lead is plugged in or if the car is...

    Gel Batteries weight ?

The fact that it is a gel battery is not the only reason for the weight difference. Batteries are produced to different standards and the better ones have more lead plates in. Some have thicker plates, some thinner but more plates etc. Checking battery physical sizes will tell you that the same...

OK, I'll go first. Alan, I don't know if you are a new member (like me) or not but this message is in the wrong place. You will have more luck, because of more people seeing it, in the Gereral or Technical sections.

    Caravan Club?

Jo, The Camping and Caravaning Club is what you term 'less stuffy'. They are more 'down to earth' than the CC. While they are both big companies and are a long way from what they would like you to believe. I used to be in both but now I only bother with the CCC. The only thing the CC has going...

    Gas regulator - different problem

Were you using Butane or Propane? The pressure in a Propane cylinder is far greater than a Butane one. I would still only expect the releif valve to go in a really bad situation though, cylinders are made for the climate. Ty contacting the regulator manufacturer for their opinion.

    Portable refridgerators

Hi, Be carefull with a fridge for the awning. Most, if not all of the fridges designed for gas will use lots of electricity when run on 12v, enough to flatten a battery in a few hours. Stay away from Peltier element ones (normally marketed as coolers) as they only keep food a certain number of...

    Caravan Tyres

Hi, With Caravans it is the lack of use that kills a tyre. I have never seen any advice about changing car tyres after a few years and there is good reason. Rubber is a material that contains natural oils. These oils are squeezed out of the rubber, so lubricating itself, during normal use. When...

    space between caravans

Jean, It's not a legal requirement, more a Club rules, site rules or local regs (which is still site rules) thing. I believe that 20 feet (6 meters) is the distance between units but you can put a vehicle in the 20 feet gay as long as there is still 10 feet of clear space.
