    heaters

As far as I am aware it is illegal to charge for electricity based on usage, unless you are registered and have the appropriate metering equipment to do so.

As an experienced caravanner, what helpful tips would you pas...

My advice, when reversing onto a pitch, stay calm, don't worry about the spectators, just keep it slow and take as long as you need, most of all DON'T PANIC, and one of the times, when you get it perfect first time, well just try not to look too smug. Oh, and just because TomTom tells you to...

Blown air heating vs Alde boiler

Also with blown air, you can run on both electricity and gas at the same time. In normal use this isn't necessary, but it can be handy to get a cold van warmed up much more quickly. On my van running them both at once brings the heater up to over 5Kw.

    Bailey Draws (removal)

Sorry David, but I take objection to that, in no way did I intend to be offensive to Sean, my question was genuine, as I thought my follow-up post explained (which, you will notice, was posted a whole day before others decided to butt into the discussion). If Sean had been offended I'm sure he...

    Bailey Draws (removal)

Oh, ok, it's just I've heard it used like that occasionally before, the American guy with the woodworking programme on TV (can't remember his name) used to use it. When I saw your post I looked up some on-line dictionaries (UK ans US) but none list it as a usage. Was just curious. George

    Bailey Draws (removal)

Your subject line really confused me. Sorry to be pedantic, but the word is 'drawer', I can't find any dictionary reference that uses draw as a noun in this way, is this some local usage ?

How many people actually pull over?

What, and risk being stuck in a layby, unable to get out because of everyone speeding up to get in front of 'that caravan that's about to pull out', you must be joking. I don't set the speed limits, if they don't like slower moving caravans, they know who to complain to.

    Fuel costs.

Essential equipment to get started for first time van owners?

I don't think anyone has mentioned the most vital piece of caravaning equipment, wine, and lots of it (also you must NEVER forget the corkscrew)

Choose the 'Limited Speed' option, and set it to about 55mph, almost spot an every time. NOTE, you may need to enable the option where it asks you what type of route you want (Fastest, Shortest, Limited Speed, etc)

twin axle caravans and pitch fee's

Why? pitch fees include more than just a charge for 'space', we don't use any more facilities, or more electricity, so why should we pay more, though I've never been to a site where the pitch has been too small, if this idea was to be accepted, it would just become a way of extorting more money...

    Bankruptcy!

'Dutch people seem to be the most avid caravanners in Europe - you find them everywhere! ' But they seem quite happy with 5,10,15 year old caravans!!
