    BPW wheel alignment

Yes Gary, they have checked both sides, nearside worse than offside. Really bad news is that delivery on replacemnt axle is 5/6 weeks which truly scuppers our month long trip to France!. Still at least I did not set off ignorant of the fact, says a lot for regular checks on your caravan. Graham F

    BPW wheel alignment

Very alarmed today, put my 2005 Dethleffs DL540 in for service only to receive a call informing me axle so far out of alignment would need to be replaced!. Tyre wear on inside edge of both tyres extreme with nearside inside edge down to wire so mega out of alignment. As far as I know I have...

An expensive mistake in Austria - Our autobahn vignette had expired!!

Yes, the Austrian's are very smart and on the ball with their vignettes. This year we toured Austria and Bavaria and purchased a vignette. We were re-entering Bavaria just south of Salzburg on a Saturday afternoon, and on the Autoroute exit road were Police checking validity of vignette...

    Freelander 2 - Fuel economy

Last November I took delivery of a new Freelander 2 Auto which I thought would make an ideal tow car. Having now covered 2,500 miles I am somewhat disapointed with the fuel economy. So far my driving has been very gentle rural driving and motorways with several long journeys included in the...

    Dethleffs caravans

Paul, We bought a new Dethleffs DL540 in 2005 when they were first imported and it has proved to be a superb caravan. We have used it in all weathers (snow to 35deg.) and it has always been comfortable. There have been no leaks or problems and it tows superbly. This year we are off to Holland...

    Cotswolds Moreton -in-Marsh CC site

Superb site so I'm sure you will have a wonderful time. Only 5 mins walk into Moreton which has good pubs and hotels so don't worry about poor reception or Turkeys that just that bit to big for the oven! Another pub well worth a visit is the Horse & Groom about 5 mins by car (turn right at main...

    Isabella magnum porch awning

Hi Mark, Put a search on EBay and save so that you get notification by email as soon as one comes up. I did this a couple of years ago and got one just a year old in first class condition for a very good price. They are a first class awning and you will not regret searching out the best. Graham F

    Removing decals/stripes

Hi Steve, No problem, hairdryer is the tool you need. Just warm up small sections at a time. pick up an edge with your finger nail and ease away. On long sections just peel back as far as you have warmed, then warm a bit more and so on until the whole decal is remove. You will most probably get...

Hi Russell, Did contact Dethleffs direct and they said no to NCC workshop and insisted must be "Dethleffs authorised dealer", so off next week to nearest dealer in Chichester who are motorhome dealers but are confindent they can handle a caravan!. With regard Campbells this was the point they...

    Trumer Heater

Hi Stewart, I think you'll find all Truma heaters are not as powerful on the electric function as they are on gas. We find the trick is to let it heat right up as as a convector heater before switching the fan on, then only use the fan on a fairly low speed. It would appear that if you use the...

Hi Elizabeth, Just check out Caravan Club and Camping & Caravaning Club web sites. Both do excellent 1 day courses which even if you have towed before or a novice offer expert tuition for a very reasonable fee. Also most insurers will offer further discount on proof of attending course...

    Dethleff??

Hi Andrew, We decided on a Dethleffs for our first caravan back in 2005. It has been superb, went for the DL540. Only problem is lack of dealers, we have to travel 120miles round trip to get service carried out by Dethleffs dealer to comply with warranty. It would also appear that some on the...

    Hitch lock when travelling

Technically no problem at all with RobStop lock in place, but safety is another issue. Would not advise under any circumstances driving with lock in place, if vehicle was in accident and needed to be uncoupled quickly you can see this would have a serious issue. As the lock is so quick and easy...

    Dethleffs caravans - are experiences?

Bryn, No need to worry at all about Dethleffs. We bought a DL540 at Earls Court 2005 and have been very pleased with it. Yes, we had acouple of small faults with it at first but nothing like some of the horror stories you read about on this forum. Only problem is lack of dealers, we have to...

    Batteries

Von, Can't quite see why your Husband wants to discharge batteries on purpose. A battery will remain in much better condition if kept charged rather than totally discharging and then restoring. Heavy charging of leisure batteries can sometimes cause damage which in turn will decrease the life...
