Meant to add that IMHO anyone with a van fitted with the new Truma 30mb regulator is likely to see it fail in the first year of use from the anecdotal information available.

We to have been a victim of this problem, now resolved with a replacement regulator, but we are left wondering how long the new one will last? Does anyone (industry insider perhaps) have any update as to the causes and possible solutions to this problem? Regards Ian

We have also a Passat estate 1.9 TDI (PS 130) and have had the same problems. Reversing the van on a gentle slope = bad smell, reversing van up more that a gentle slope and/or soft ground = bad smell & clouds of smoke. Only did that once, not doing it again. Now we avoid reversing unless on...
