    Air Con service

It's a pity that Dometic do not include this advice in their instructions, at least they didn't in 2008, perhaps they do now. As I understand it......the Dometic unit has no regassing point, and anyway there is nobody in UK licenced to use the chemical involved.......this information was...

    Air Con service

Is it a Dometic? There is a list of engineers on the Dometic web site. but you will find most of them do not want to know. If it has lost its gas, it seems that there is nobody in UK that can regas it, not even Dometic themselves. If the unit is not that old, you may get Dometic to replace it.

Alde Hot Water/ Heating System (I'll post here for starters)

As you have not used the heating before, I would think your problem is air in the system. You need to find the vent points on the system and release the air. Afterwards you will need to top up with 50/50 glycol/water. You will probably need to do this a few times to get rid of all the air...

    Search function?

Should have said, but pressed the save button too soon...........I did try the search box above right, but wondered if it was possible to search in a particular area of the forum as I was not getting any relevant results. Not really too sure what are the best words to enter in the search box.

    Search function?

Do we have one on the forum? I wanted to trace a post I seem to remember making around this time last year, is that possible? It would have been in the Technical section most likely, and concerned how some modifications we had done to the van electrics were removed by the service engineer...

Shurflo pump with Internal Tank arrangement???

Thanks for that. My OH has worked out a plan that needs 3 bi-stable solenoid valves, but has been unable so far to source any such valves. Our little taps are just behind the bed box flap, so no need to lift the cushions. You do however need to get on the floor to do it, and the knees are...

Shurflo pump with Internal Tank arrangement???

We have the little taps arrangement in our van, and would like to make the system easier to operate. Could you share your source of the solenoid valves?

12 Volt Electrical Problems Awning Light, Toilet and Fridge

If you look on the Sargents website (they supply a lot of stuff to Swift) there may be some more information available, worth a look anyway. Look under "technical data" then "Swift Group schematics". Also, you could try requesting help on Swift's own forum.....www.swift-talk.co.uk

12 Volt Electrical Problems Awning Light, Toilet and Fridge

If you have an edge connector on the PC board under the flush button, then it is possible that could be the problem. We recently had a similar problem and traced it to a poor connection in the wires in this .

12 Volt Electrical Problems Awning Light, Toilet and Fridge

The fridge should only operate on 12v when connected to the car with the engine running, so it sounds like it is operating as it should.

Red Pennant - general exclusions - shipping length

You will not be charged extra, you just need to do it over the phone so they have a record of the size of your van in order to ensure a large enough vehicle is sent out if you need to be recovered. Our van is 7.95m shipping length, we have had Red Pennant on it 4 times and always paid the same...

Do drain or not to drain?

Ours never comes back as we left it, though it has fortunately never been left with water in as our service is in January. Last time we found EVERY light in the van left switched on, but the battery charger off. They had drained the battery of power, then attempted to charge it up as they know...

    Filling our Gaslow cylinder

With the Gaslow system, the cylinder is fitted permanently in the van (instead of one of our CalorLite cylinders), and filled via a fixed filling pipe through a filler cap fitted in the side of the front locker........just like filling a car that uses LPG. These systems are approved for...

How do you take your money to France. What is the safest?

We now use the Halifax Clarity credit cards all the time, we have an account each. We pay with it when possible, and take cash out on it as there is no charge apart from the interest. This is minimal as we have the 12.99% rate, so about £1 per month per £100 withdrawn. it will depend on...

    Scotland to Istanbul.....via Arctic Circle

Hi there! As retired wrinklies (1 Scot and 1 Norwegian), we have done a fair bit of travelling in the last 5 years, but nothing longer than 4 months. We have been several times to the North of Norway (OH's homeland), and I reckon you need to check out the weather in April. It may be lovely...
