which fort william site would be best with 6 & 8 year old

I can really recommend the Glen Nevis Campsite. We have stayed there several times when the kids were young. It is only a couple of miles to the centre of Fort William where there is a great swimming pool with flume among other things. There are lots of things to do and see in the area. The...

Site in France with good cycle trails nearby

Hi Gary, I can recommend Camping Bonne Anse Plage at La Palmyre (Royan). It's a few years since we were last there but used to be great. There are miles of cycle trails and a fantastic swimming pool complex. Also there is the world famous La Palmyre Zoo which the kids will love. The campsite...

    winter caravaning in the alps

Hi Keith, It is a legal requirement to use snow chains when required by the French Police. Normally however it's not required to use them unless there has been heavy snow falls and the police deem that snow chains must be used to access certain roads - usually up to the ski resorts. I have had...

    Royan, end of June 2009

I can recommend Bonne Anse Plage in La Palmyre near Royan. We have stayed there several times and it has always been excellent. It has a fantastic pool complex, nice bakery, butchers shop and general groceries store. Also tennis courts, craxy golf etc and is right next to the beach. There is a...

El delphin verde or Las Dunas - any comments please

Hi Jim, We've been to both (Las Dunas x 1 and EDV x 3 times) and although there's not much between them we prefer EDV. The pitches and amenities are very similar but we think EDV has a better swimming pool complex. At the end of the day it just comes down to personal choice. One thing for sure...

Robberies on French - Reply to All.

Hi Jo, I've been following this thread since you posted it. I think some of the comments made by other members are pretty poor and not in the spirit of a friendly caravan forum. Can I say this in your defence. My brother-in-law is a French motorcycle cop patrolling the Auto-routes near...

    for mac re the vendee

Hi Colin, I have never been to the campsite you mention but I've heard it's good. The area is great. The weather is almost as good as that of the Cote D'Azur, so a good beach holiday in the main summer season is usually assured. The whole of the west coast from St Nazaire south to the Gironde...

    france

Hi Craig, It depends what you're looking for but one area to consider is the Vendee. There are fantastic beaches, lots to do and the weather is generally good as it's just that bit further south than Britanny. Generally speaking we've found that anywhere south of about Nantes is pretty much...

    Route through Lyons

We've done it both ways - bypass and through the city. To be honest it's six and half a dozen. The bypass is longer but generally flows better so timewise it's about the same although I would say it's better signposted. Follow the signs to Marseille and you can't go wrong.

Le Havre to Royan - route

Hi Jackie, I agree with Lesley and David. We have taken this route a few times now and it generally takes around 8 - 8-1/2 hours including a couple of short breaks.

Anyone stayed at " le village parisien" ?

Hi Kevin, We stayed there for a few nights 2 years ago. It's OK for a couple of nights if you are going to spend most of the time away from the campsite. Disneyland is about 25 min drive. We only used it to sleep at night. I agree with 'The Plotter' that it's very difficult to park. We have a...
