I believe gentle heating with a hairdryer has helped get it back into place. From what I have read; it is not uncommon and the hairdryer approach, while initially successful is not always a long term solution

Just Googled a picture of your model of van. Bailey usually put the gas locker on the offside; but in the D4 it seems to in the middle of the near side. Somewhat daft arrangement. There is a special tool that will open the awning rail. I understand that the tool is stupidly expensive but just a two minute job. Give your dealership a ring and get them to do it. If you bought it privately find an AWS technician who can come and do it for you. Don’t try and bodge it yourself...
