We have a Vango awning and bought the bespoke awning carpet for the make and size. It is sort of “Moroccan carpet” woven style. Has lasted well and is good underfoot.

I believe gentle heating with a hairdryer has helped get it back into place. From what I have read; it is not uncommon and the hairdryer approach, while initially successful is not always a long term solution
According to Google, you can get products that revive the colour of canvas. Amazon sell a boat canvas colour reviver. I have no idea whatsoever if it is suitable for caravan awnings. A bit of digging around in the internet may flush something out.

Hope it is fixable for you, but may be worth alerting the site warden/owner to the possible need to Marshall several strong folks to help shove.
In my experience people are happy to lend a push if they know it is needed.

Just Googled a picture of your model of van. Bailey usually put the gas locker on the offside; but in the D4 it seems to in the middle of the near side. Somewhat daft arrangement. Others may know better than me if an awning would allow sufficient ventilation to deal with leaks; and the potential...
There is a special tool that will open the awning rail. I understand that the tool is stupidly expensive but just a two minute job. Give your dealership a ring and get them to do it. If you bought it privately find an AWS technician who can come and do it for you. Don’t try and bodge it yourself...
If you tell us whereabouts you want to go and your requirements ( kids play area, dog walk, pub, whatever) ; I am sure that we will be able to recommend some good ones.
