    Which Awning

Take the decision in stages: Do you want a full awning or a porch awning? Then Do you want air or poled? Then Do you want heavy duty to leave up for long spells or quick and lightweight for short trips? Then What is your budget? When you have some idea if these things take yourself to an outlet...

    Our European trip

I know that you didn’t mention Shackleton. I have read the thread. I agreed that the warnings about the amount of driving were appropriate . My point was that the extreme diversion from the OP powered by stalwarts who like to talk amongst themselves could not be justified beyond a few posts...

    Our European trip

My point is that the warning about the amount of driving was clearly and rightly made in a couple of posts. The thread then veered into a discussion about the miles others have driven; and now we are on Shackleton. This is exactly the sort of gossipy clique discussion between long term forumites...

I need help with this awning please!

The pole structure looks very similar to that of a Dorema Quattro porch awning that we used to have https://awnings-direct.com/dorema-quattro-225-porch-awning.html Mel

    Our European trip

Here’s a thought; Perhaps instead of an “I’ve towed more miles than you” competition; someone who has driven all them miles could actually answer the OPs questions about Air quality stickers, routes and tolls. Just saying Mel

    Route from Bridport

We rejoined the C&CC so we could go there; and to another C&CC site on our itinerary Before doing so I asked the owner this question and she said it was necessary for their insurance cover. Mel

    Snapped Jockey wheel clamp handle

I don’t know if this is a good idea so can others comment please. If you had a car Jack or scissor Jack can you use that to act as the jockey wheel, pull up the hitch handle and Alko stabiliser and gently raise the tow hitch off the tow ball and so release the caravan from the car ( I assume you...

    Alko stabilising pads noise.

Before you spend money on new pads give the inside of the tow hitch a really good clean and spray with brake cleaner as others have suggested. Worth doing regularly as they glaze up. If still creaking then make Mr Plodd an offer. They are easy to swap over ( even we did it) Mel

    Route from Bridport

Thanks, that’s reassuring. It was the way I was thinking of going. We are on a really really nice CS ( Greenacres Campsite Bridport) at the moment and left to her own devices, Google would take us up a load of B road lanes towards Chard. Having driven on some of them solo, it would not be...

    Electric air awning pump

Don’t know about that pump but we had a Gale pump made by Kampa ( who are now Dometic). Originally for a Kampa ( Dometic) awning. When this went pop we got a Vango awning. The Dometic pump wouldn’t fit it. Folks said it should but we tried every fitting it came with and it didn’t. If you have a...
