We bought our invertor off of ebay and that was made by ring and works very well. Today i saw invertors on maplin electronics website from 19.99 unfortunately not able to give any feedback on them but i'd say they were worth a look.

We are having the same trouble with an 03 Vauxhall Vectra we also have to reverse up a slight incline Hubby sometimes manages not to burn the clutch he says it's down to him not using the clutch so much and othertimes he forgets so uses it more and it results to the burning smell

I run a normal portable tv in our caravan off of an in- vertor linked to a spare leisure battery which i charge at home and i get 14 hrs from that battery plenty for a weekend unless you are a telly addict!!
