Hi Lorraine, we have 54 plate 2.0 Grand Vitara 5 door which we use to tow a 2003 Bailey Auvergne 1400kg (100%) great car averages 22-25mpg when towing but can agree it needs chasing on at steep/long hills.Might consider new model vitara diesel next time but i am a bit wary a it is a renault engine.

Unfortuantly our van was one month out the 3 years Bailey warranty,which i beleive was not transferrable anyway!
