Are you sure it was the clamp handle that the dealer replaced? From your second photo, that doesn't look new.

Exactly the same happened to me just after we arrived at a site near Grantham a couple of years ago. I doubt that the thread in the clamp is faulty, or crossed. It's probably metal fatigue from possibly overtightening the clamp. From the picture, the clamp handle doesn't look new, the handle...

Happened to me, arriving at a site. Ended up using the Milenco steps as a temporary rest for the towhitch, while we dashed off to Grantham Caravans to buy a replacement handle, and B&Q for some drill bits and stud extractors, to drill out the bit of stud still stuck in the clamp.

I recently had a similar problem when my pump, which was fairly new, wouldn't switch off. Eventually, I found that the problem wasn't with the pump, but with the inlet socket. I found that a small piece of grass stem was stuck in the non return valve, not allowing it to close properly.

I am currently using a Comet pump (as per the article you're referring to) it's working perfectly. I've just bought another Comet pump to convert another old Whale unit that has died on me.

That's what I have as well. On a couple of occasions, the ballcock didn't stop the water supply, leading to the aquaroll overflowing. On both occasions, a strip down found some grit in the diaphragm was the cause.
