    Maplin's Camping Satellite Kit

I've had the Lidl one for several years - and had no problems. The dish may - however - be a little small if your "way down South". I only as 'cause we were near the camargue last year A nd I couldn't pick up a signal for love nor money. Looking at the other dishes on the site they were all...

    Gas Cylinder weight

The actual weight of the cylinders varies a little. If you look at your cylinders you will find either on a metal tab around the collar - or stamped on the cylinder a weight - usually in lbs and oz. This is the empty weight of that cylinder - all you need to do then is convert to kg and add 6...

    SPARE WHEEL CARRIER

    France and Telepeage

We are travelling down to Nice from St Malo later this year - using the toll roads. Is it possible to get a Telepeage card for use - including our car and caravan. We will also be using our car solo whilst on site so want something that will cover this as well. It would be much easier than...

    White hook up cable

The colour of the cable is relevent - if it is yellow. Yellow cables are normally 110v whereas blue - and most white - is 230V. If your yellow cable is only rated for 110v then it is potentially dangerous to use ot for 230V

    Quick noseweight question

If you have a single axle van then what you do should be OK. If, however, you hav a twin axle then it is important to have the wheels on level ground as altering the angle of the van can make significant difference in nose weight.

    self leveling

In response to Lutz there are in fact several cars with "allround" self leveling suspension. As an ex Allroad driver they definitely do and I believe the A8, Q7 and perhaps Q5 follow suit. The Volvo equivalents may also do - but I dont know if they have Air suspension

    over night stops france/spain

Not done that journey, but will be passing down a lot of that way in June. Was recommended a good site for stop overs by Evans of Sprot http://users.pandora.be/leo.huybrechts/camp1.htm It seems to cover most routes that you could want. Even better they are downloadable as Excel Files and can...

    Stop-over going "Down South"

As we are most likely to end up in Montpelier region route 2 is the most likely. Many thanks Evans that link is very interesting. The Stop points seems very comprehensive!!!! Lots of ideas as to where to stop - depending on how the day's driving goes. From the two routes I've looked at I...

We're travelling from St Malo to Central/Eastern Med at the end of May, not sure exactly where on the Med yet!! We would appreciate an suggestions for us (me and "her indoors") and our little white box on wheels for a suitable stop over for the way down (and possibly back - to Caen then - if...

    French gas cylinders

Depends on the size of bottle you get. We have ?6kg Twinny with clip on adapter on our 2005 van (fixed regulator). The regulator fits our pigtails for our butane bottles no prob. If you are unsure what to get I think GasLow sell the clip on regs etc here in the UK

    Volvo Towing Electrics

This seems a common problem with the 13 pin set-up. When i bought my audi allroad (as an ex-demo) with factory fitted detachable towbar and 13 pin electrics I found that there was no wiring at all for the fridge. It would appear, therefore, that car manufacturers believe that fridges are not...

    breakaway cable

Very interesting thread - particularly as I was planning to travel via Holland next year. BUT I have a problem!! I have an Audi with a factory fitted detachable towbar. There is no point to attach the breakaway cable and the manual states that it should be looped around the tow ball. So how...
