    Who empties the toilet cassette?

Not just the garden. My in-laws had an unwelcome visit from such a projectile 20 years ago. It came straight through the roof tiles, but then melted in bits in the loft!

    Fiamma Caravanstore

Thanks, Hovis and RayS. I was thinking on the same lines as Hovis, so now my questions are asked and answered without me needing to put finger to key!!

Ban on smoking in vehicles with children

Coming very late to this topic, could I just say (as a non-smoker), that smoke, whether from a cigarette or a factory chimney, is like loud music. It spreads far beyond its producer, and annoys lots of people. Thank you.

    caravan club insurance

I have no particular information on the COMPETITIVENESS of the CC insurance, but I received my renewal notice today, and the price is EXACTLY the same as last year.

    Mobile caravan tyre fitters

I also used E-tyres to replace a fatally damaged (almost new) tyre. Couldn't find the identical spec online, so phoned them late afternoon instead. Very efficient - they quoted me within 30 seconds for exactly what I needed, then asked if 9.30 the following morning would suit for fitting...

    Campervan drivers

I think you have used two words with rather differently understood meanings - "Campervan" and "Motorhome". The poor driving standards apparently are only obvious in the latter category! ;) PS I drive a campervan (sort of)

    Spare Wheel

I'm holding my breath till you give us some inkling of your "idea"., 'cos we may want to copy it!!

Towing Mirrors on a Renault Trafic

If your existing extension mirrors don't fit very well on the van, try fitting them on the bottom edge instead of the top. I found my Aeros did not like the curved top edge of my VW Transporter T5 mirrors, but they are really solid "upside down", clamped to the bottom.

    ooops disappearing gas bottle

Gas bottle lockers are notorious for the flimsiness of their flooring - often not much more than some pressed cardboard. OK when it is dry and there is something stronger beneath, (for example where the A frme runs) but not when wet. Do check the flooring in the van itself, but it is unlikely...

    Mains electric neon

Audiorob, I don't think it's very kind of you to comment on the OP's intelligence like this. And at Christmas, too!!

    Power cable

I was thinking of a plug (technically a "socket") to go on the caravan end of your mains lead, rather than Surfer's idea. If you go on to Screwfix site, it's item 44755 - Commando Socket, £4.16

    Power cable

You need to replace the socket on the end of your hook-up lead with one that has a thumb-lever to raise the sprung cover. I have 4 different hook-up leads (don't ask why!) and only two of them have this type of socket. They are SO much easier to use one-handed. Also, do use Maplins silicon...

    MOT

Sorry if I seem a bit thick here, but why not retax online for the 1st October (current MoT covers the vehicle at time of renewal) then take it for its MoT nearer the final MoT date? If the vehicle fails, your Tax is not affected, only the Mot requirement has to be sorted.

Near accident on A49 at Leominster.

Just read this thread through and it struck me that no-one has mentioned the possibility that the reason for the excessive speed of the car+caravan was that the driver had stolen the van and was trying to put as much distance as possible between him and the theft site!!!!

    Overturning your caravan when towing?

Possibly plus your "old" 10 metre cable. Some French pitches don't seem to be designed for EHU connection (well, not 25 metres' worth!!) Might be worth getting a cover for the join, just in case. Most tourist sites are fine, but some of the quainter Municipal sites may be lacking in this respect.
