Pity to lose a good insurer.

    A frame hitch cover

We have a dealer supplied one. Given when we are on site the dealer is often a hundred or more miles away then the advertising is not going to work that well, but I have had good service with them, so if it helps them it is no problem to me. Personally I hope it protects the area it covers, but...

Using shower area as extra storage

Changing the use with different fittings will change the weight. Any extra weight added will eat into the loading allowance so probably best avoided and it would reduce the resale value in most cases. Frankly if you do not use it my feeling is you should live with it. We often put a bin bag in...

Car tow ball limit 75kgs,noseweight 100kgs.

You do have to be careful adding weight at the rear as going too far can cause instability. Some caution at first when towing this way is needed to check this. Possibly uprating the rear suspension might help, but if you do tell your insurer and explain why.

    Car tax issue

Have you checked your bank statement to show the payment was made and keep a copy to show payment if you are stopped. If it was then send a copy to Swansea, if not paid do it again.

    Twin electrics

If you have twin plugs on the caravan you are getting and expect it to outlast the car then stick with them. If the car will go last I would get a single 13 pin plug and use a converter. If doing this avoid the very cheap convertors sold on line as they can be very poor quality.

    Tarpaulins

We used a cotton awning for many ears and had no condensation problems. Possibly the synthetic ones do not breath in the same way and cause this. Ventilation is needed if on grass though.

    I've done it now!

Never use the pink stuff as I do not see the point, we have never found not using it caused a problem. We do not use anything like it at home and see no reason to use it in the caravan. It seems to me to be nothing other than an answer to a problem that does not exist. My feeling is the black...

    Large awnings. Airbeam or pole?

By now air beams should have reached the point they are nearly as strong and reliable as poles, so unless you want them to stand up to the very worst conditions it should be a matter of personal preference. Air beams are easier tout up but can be heavier as the beam is part of the body and if...

Is there a section for Sad "O", s.

I am afraid wheel locks are an essential these days and not sing one puts your property at a higher risk. Thieves want the easy target and without one the caravan is very vulnerable, even old and what you might think undesirable ones go missing. They are not impregnable but do help. As for the...

Tow car Kia sportage 1.7 crdi ( 1)

Welcome to the forum. There is a lot to consider when buying so perhaps you could start by letting us know you intend buying privately or from a dealer. I would first look round several dealers just to see the different layouts and what you think would suit you. If you know nothing about...

    Insurance renewal

The £40 increase s to me quite reasonable given the level of rises elsewhere. They are one of the best and I would certainly not think walking for that sum is sensible. Do not be tempted by very cheap alternatives,, you get what you pay for and if it has not got five star DEFAQTO rating...
