    MTPLM & Kerbweigths

Having now obtained the Passat, the GTW is stated at 3370kgs. So a fully loaded van of MTPLM 1400kgs, and max vehicle kerbweight of 1900kgs are within the GTW. I don't think I'll get anywhere near the max vehicle kerbweight, so am happy with this combination. Thanks for all the replies. Sean

    MTPLM & Kerbweigths

I noted with interest that on the NTTA site, they quote the kerbweight of the vehicle as being the manufacturers kerbweight PLUS a full tank of fuel PLUS 75kgs for driver. That would make my Passat kerbweight as 1550kgs, which has put my mind at rest about towing a 1400kg caravan. Thanks for...

    MTPLM & Kerbweigths

Good point about the quoted and actual kerbweight. I have used the quoted figure, so would be interested to find out the cars actual when I get it. Sean

    MTPLM & Kerbweigths

John L. Thanks for the reply, but surely if the vehicle kerbweight is 1400kg's and max braked towing limit is 1500kgs, then the 2 added together is the GTW. Sean

    MTPLM & Kerbweigths

I note, with some interest, that in this months magazine, on page 31, Alex was towing an ABBEY GTS Vogue, MTPLM 1439kgs, with a Toyota RAV4, kerbweight 1485kgs !! Hardly an 85% match, and considering how much importance seems to be placed on this 85% figure, seems, to me, slightly ironic...

    MTPLM & Kerbweigths

Hi all. The caravan I'm buying has a MTPLM of 1400kg's. I am looking at buying a VW Passat TDI 130 saloon which has a kerbweight of 1402kg's and a max braked towing limit of 1500kg's. Now, I know this is not an 85% match, and have read all the advice about this. I have had plenty of experience...

    Parking

Hi Paul. I am in the same situation. I would check the in the deeds of your house to see if there are any covenants restricting you from keeping a caravan on your drive. Also check with your local council by phoning them. They can be very helpful. Regards, Sean

    Showers - Any good?

Again, many thanks for all your replies. Lots of good info to take in. I think as it is our first caravan I will go for the combined shower/toilet model. Wether we use the shower is another matter, depends on the sites we visit. Time will tell, Just can't wait to get away for weekends next year...

    Showers - Any good?

Thanks to all for the replies. Quite a diverse opinion. Hadn't even considered having to fetch the water and dispose of it!! I will probably be using sites with facilities as have older kids to keep happy. I will probably go for the combined shower/toilet model, as I would prefer more...

    Showers - Any good?

Hi all. I am looking at buying at buying a new caravan early next year and have narrowed it down to 2 models. One has a seperate shower, the other is combined with the toilet cubicle. How good are the showers in modern caravans? I would appreciate your views and experiences. Thanks, Sean.
