    Wind Power questions

Nuclear powers France aand they own quite a blit of your Brit power do they not, and the wind turbines seem to be doing very little. Nuclear is the way to go, it just has to be built in the right place with the right safety back up. You can't rely on gas and coal or wind.

    Wind Power questions

I would probably be kept awake by the droning hum of the blades turning and doubt that a wind turbine would offer much power where we live, we live in a very sheltrered location. Would the ice maker only work when the wind blew and my wife would only be likely to Iron my shirts in cyclone wind...

    Ain't life grand

If Poms vote for AV you all need certifying. Back home in Oz it was supposed to increase the numbers of people voting, that failed so they brought in compulsory voting. Australia would be a far better place with first past the post. AV, proportional representation is a license for lack of...

    Computer question

Of course a Moderator can have a personal opinion it doesn't mean that you know what your talking about or that you are entitled to label a product that many users and computer professionals rate very well as the "spawn of the Devil". If people here don't like the wheel spats on a new caravan...

    Computer question

Providing the program is a fairly new product Windows 7 runs Vista programs with no problems. Windows 7 is far more stable and better than Vista and uses less of your computers resources than Vista or XP. 32 BIT Windows 7 is the one to go for, 64 BIT has issues with some program such as Flash...

    Sat nav query

We quickly learnt that "fastest route" has nothing to do with the type of road or track a satnav machine directs you along. Fastest route = fastest speed limit. When we first came to the UK we found that the satnav would direct us left in some villages and then to a right turn, another right...

    Wind Power questions

"building ecologically friendly power generation such as wind farms attractive" Well no one seems to give any ecological thought to the blot on the countryside that the three armed bandits make. Parts of Cornwall we've seen have been ruined by the eye sores. It must be bad enough for people to...

    Wind Power questions

We have driven via Bethune stop over to Chambery. On route we passed a number of wind farms, none of the blades were turning at a speed that could produce any decent power. We counted 5 blades doing complete very slow turns out of several dozen wind turbines across France in two days. we spent...

what is acceptable to put by your holiday home

Placed next to a lovely new caravan and annexe with a near new Jaguar tow car with a lovely friendly couple who guided us on to our plot as we reversed we thought we were in clover. Lovely lady was deaf and her husband spent nearly every minute of the day and evening whistling shrilly out of...

what is acceptable to put by your holiday home

If equiment or vehicles are fairly clean and well cared and not very noisy they can park a Shell fuel tanker as far as we're concerned. We first carravanned with our relatives in western France in 2009 before we got our own caravan. We were sited next to a section with six or seven Pommy...

Royal Wedding - Anyone going to be celebrating??

Were heading for Paris before the Royals wedding. I'm pro republic for Australia and for kicking Royalty in to touch. The chapel at Windsor castle is very nice, couldn't his granny have fixed up a quick wedding service without all the baloney? After all it's not like they are a couple of fresh...

    New Pension Scheme

Your Pommy politicians are just as big a bunch of useless dogooders as our Aussie ones. No prob's finding money for expenses or fact finding trips or fat pay rises for themselves. Your lot are also pretty good at funding any stray dogs that pitch up on your shores much like the soft pc brigade...

what atracts you to a site?

Green grassy pitches and open grassy fields for us. After a lifetime of burnt earth Aussie summers, green grass is the best.
