    The saga continues

To be clear. budget is pretty much whatever we can get for the outlander so we’re happy to have something with a few more miles and years on it but still reliable. more important is that we can tow confidently without worrying about limits any more.

    The saga continues

All great suggestions. We used to have (before caravans) a Kia Sedona which Mrs Ste loved. Would be quite happy with something like a galaxy but would need to look into how much we can put in it weight wise and that it will pull the van (Grande SE Turin) ok.

    The saga continues

Ok so we’re not in any rush! The Outlander will pull our van but as you’ll all remember from various posts, we’re always a bit close on limits when we’ve got the whole family in. The van has axle limits of 900kg and we have to be careful there as there’s not a lot of wiggle room to put much in...

    Battery type

Well it’s just me for a couple of nights on my own so I reckon I’ll be sorted.

    Battery type

Cheers everybody. Just wanted to check the settings on the charger because the default setting is Gel. Reason for asking is that I’m having a go at a couple of nights off grid on Tuesday so wanted to check it was all ok. Any off grid tips???

    Battery type

Can’t get a definitive answer so I’m sure you guys will provide in no time. I have a Numax DC25MF battery. Just checking I’ve got my solar charger setting correct. Is this battery classed as Liquid (electrolyte) or Gel?? I know it’s not AGM but some sites say “Wet” technology which I guess...

    Reporting back - Wiltshire

It’s not something we have to address right away. We just have to be somewhat selective with our payload in the meantime. Might be nipping to a CS in a couple of weeks on my own for a couple of nights so that’s won’t be an issue- it’s only when we all go really.

    Reporting back - Wiltshire

Back after a lovely 2 weeks away at Blackland Lakes in Calne. I won't bore you with the details of our various arguments with the teenagers. However I will report back that the van has performed well - I will say that I think Bailey build quality may have suffered somewhat in the past couple...

    Incorrect Gas locker plate

I know. However this does tie in with my friend who has the new alicanto Grande. His is also able to upgrade to 1800 with 900 limit on each axle. It looks like they have changed their stance since 2019

    Incorrect Gas locker plate

He actually said “It wouldn’t be the DVSA that stop you “ I replied, “I rather think it would as that is what VOSA is now. And yes, it is a good outcome because I know I can put more probably just behind the rearmost axle to load up that one which should take some of the front and balance...

    Incorrect Gas locker plate

*UPDATE* Bailey have rung me!!!!! Apparently, the only figure I need to worry about is the 1800 by my door. As for the axles, as long as the combined 2 plus jockey wheel is under 1800, that’s fine because they are classed as a tag axle and therefore a single entity. He did ask how I would...

    Incorrect Gas locker plate

They look interesting. Already got an EV as our day to day runaround at home and love it.
