I don't have any yet, but 20cm on each side with give me 30cm each side beyond the caravan width, so too wide.

Maybe I am overthinking it. Without knowing how often mirror related stops occur, I am erring towards caution. I fully agree about the importance of rear visibility, the only bit I can't see in my standard car mirrors is directly behind the caravan, so I'm also considering a wireless rear view...
