Staying near RAF Fairford - RIAT 2019

Just Google ‘RIAT Campsites’ or similar. There are plenty to choose from, some next to the airfield perimeter fence, and close to the public entrances to the showground. Many put on evening entertainment and have catering etc. Book early for the popular ones!

    Caravan TV Show

Whilst flicking through the channels the other night (as you do), I caught a trailer for a series of caravan shows. To be shown on the Quest digital channel, commencing next Monday 23 Apr at 20.00. Don't know what the contents will be, but thought you may interested.

    first time out since november

Don't do what we did on our first outing of the year in February and leave your bag of clothes at home! Luckily we were only 30 min from home so legged it back the next morning.

    Anyone going to the NEC?

We'll be there on Wednesday just for a snout round and feel smug that our 2004 Avondale outshines all the new stuff! Have a shopping list that only has tent pegs and awning bag on it - mind you friends went last year looking for a new hitchlock and came back with the reciept for a new Bailey...

Caravan covers, good idea or not?

Iishka - I guarantee for every reply you get praising covers, you'll get one saying they are the work of the devil! We keep our van in a storage site a few miles from home and keep it covered over the winter. Never had a problem with damp, most covers are made from breathable fabric. It is a...

    Help - Insecure Fridge!

The fridge in our 2004 Avondale Argente 550-L has taken to trying to escape from its kitchen unit when we are on the move. I cannot see how it should be secured, there are a couple of holes on one side that look as though they would take self-tapping screws but there is no access (via the under...

    British F1 Grand Prix

Jo, Have you looked at Silverstone Woodlands (look via the Silvertone Circuit website)? It is right next to the circuit. I think Hamilton Fields is an easy 30 min amble through Silverstone village to the circuit - just follow the crowd! All of the sites near the circuit are very lively over...

A CL. Site In North Norfolk

Brian, Hempstead Hall (Handbook p431), near Holt maybe worth a look. We use it for short notice weekends as it is only about 20 miles from us. It is very secluded, on a working farm, owners very friendly. Holt is walking distance, and you can do a circular walk from the site through Holt...

    Suction fitting mirrors

I've used Suck it & Sees for about 18 months now with no problem. There is still a sufficient area of the existing mirror visable to be useful but I guess this depends on your particular towcar. No problem with heated mirrors. I prefer convex on both sides. Like most things caravanning - each...

    Waterless cleaners

Derek - I was recently cleaning our 'van at its storage site using the wet & messy method, got chatting to the guy next to us who was using "Greased Lightning Showroom Shine". He swore by it - It removed black streaks, gave a brilliant shine and he was using a lot less elbow grease than me! He...

    Ford Kuga2.0 tdci

    Wifi on sites in Germany

Off to the land of frothy beer and lederhosen at the weekend - 1st week at Camping am Rhein (Rudesheim), then across for a week at Kueser Werth Camping (Bernkastel). If anyone has been to either site recently could you tell me if they have wifi/internet access?

    Waving!

Keep trying - we travelled 200 miles, waved to over 70 caravanners and got a total of 2 waves back ... they were worth it though ... we'll get the caravanning world waving yet! Mrs Wolfie

Grafham Water Caravan Club Site, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.

Jo Anne, We used This site for an overnight stop during the last May Bank holiday - site was very well kept, toilets immaculate, wardens very friendly. Pool was not open when we were there so check beforehand if you have kids on board. We said we would return for longer when we get a chance.
