Out of all the places and not sites mentioned we think only about 3 of them would appeal to us. Seems that the places to visit were chosen by a toff!

I would go along with Glasgow although I am not sure irts number one. Doubt you will get in for the Commonwealth games as every where seems booked up. It has lots more to see with the Burrell Collection, Pollock House , the Riverside Transport Museum and at Coatbridge there is a large Industrial Museum plus a lot more. We also like Stratford and Yorkshire but the Isle of Man is a no no as I understood they do not take caravans unless I missed something.

hi all, I agree with Surfer it would be interesting to know who sat on the panel of judges!!. been to quite a few of the places, erm,
Glasgow, no offence to our scottish cousins but the best place there is the Erskine Bridge and thats on the way out!. Isle of man been a few times mostly for the TT's, Douglas is nice for a walkabout but dont really see any point in staying longer, you can walk round it all in a day. St Ives is a fine place as long as you walk around under a Brolly (the seagulls aim is second to none) and it protects your ice cream and chips from theft. there are far better places in cornwall. Bude, Looe. St austell. Torquay, to name just a few. then there's Yorkshire it's a big county see it on a bike "phew" good luck, undoubtedly North Yorkshire is a gem. but West Yorkshire is all Cities Towns and an industrial wasteland (ps,it is also where the most cycle tracks are) East Yorkshire is dominated by the coastline and thats about it, I should know spent 40 odd years caravanning trying to get out of the place, oh and as for Betty's the coffee is too strong and it takes a weeks wage to pay for it!!.

The list is subjective and everyone will have different ideas so there is probably no top ten but sveral depending on what you do when you get there. I may be biased but you can have a very good week in Glasgow if you like what cities have to offer but it is not for everyone like all the places mentioned.

Quite, as Ray says, such things are always subjective, variety is, after all, the spice of life. And that's the wonderful thing about touring, you can go where you want to! On the other hand, we'd love to hear the places in the UK that you think are ones not to miss.

Just read my spelling, whoops. We like the West Coast of Scotland Obam, Ayr and down to Dumfries. The sites we would use would be North Ledaig, C&CC Culzean castle and New England Bay all with great views over the water. Further South, Chester Fairoaks (but keep your wife out of the outlet shops), Stratford and East Yorkshire. Fairly mixed bunch but we try to go somewhere new each year but not settled on where yet this year.

It may be a good price because it is in the middle of nowhere, however it does look to be a nice site. A bit far for us to travel.

the isle of man is not part of Britain, great Britain or the united kingdom of great Britain. whilst its true any top 10 places is subjective, the fact that the isle of man gets on a list of top 10 place in Britain isn't subjective.its simply
not part of britain..

Having been to Culzean Castle on a couple of occasions, toilet/showers very good but unfortunately a lot of the pitches are in a hollow with no views unless you like looking at other caravans or the toilet block. The ones with the great views are heavily booked in advance - they were when we went. We were told that you cannot choose your pitch but it appears that some people have preferential treatment! (Subject to the managers attitude at the time of booking)

Hi Lizzie, I don't think I have a favourite site, (except perhaps Oakley Farm, Newbury, which is not the best site in the country but has some lovely woodland walks in the area) I tend to feel variety is the spice of life! Also, I like collecting Camping & Caravanning Club pennons, I love stringing them up around my unit when I'm on an outing, so I visit Club sites when not CS-ing.

Colin, Torquay is NOT in Cornwall its in Devon, and if you think St. Austell is a better place to visit than St Ives it just shows were all very different. We think St Ives is a lovely town and great to visit, usually out of season as its a lot quieter then.
