hi has anyone had problems with the remote 12 volt isolate on their swift or is it just us .we have never used it and always just turn it on and off manually but 3 weekends ago we arrived at a site after travailing 130 miles to find we have no 12 volt power .we had a mains hook up but without 12 volt we had no water pump . i tried everything even phoned the dealer for advice but no one was their that could help . stayed till Monday and took the van straight back to the dealers no names but it was in coppul lancs straight away a guy in the service department said it would be the remote isolator and have we tried it .the answer to him was what remote as the only remotes we had were for the alarm and the awning light which when we took delivery of the van in April this year the guy said and demonstrated this black fob was just a bit of gimmick and we would problem never use it so it was put in a drew and forgotten about .as we have never used this remote to turn the awning light on or off and have never used it to isolate the battery how did this happen their answer is the system can be activated by car alarms and mobile phones .we are not new to caravaning as this is are third van but i have never come across this problem before has any one els?

yep, been there, done that. On top of that problem, the switch is independent and you need both the switch in the right position and the remove active.

I loved it all the same, go out, leave the lights on and press the remote. When you return in the dark all you need is a simple press of the switch and its lights up

Are you sure that the remote that turns the alarm on and leaves the awning light on for a few seconds also isolates the 12V.

We have a Compass and I am fairly sure that it does not do that - I know it is a different manufacturer but I believe the only isolation you can do is from the switch on our van.

I can not be 100% sure but I have left a 12V fridge on (on hook up) while we have been out with the alarm on and I think we may have even left lights on.

I also always turn the 12V isolater off when in transit and am sure that this does not effect fridge running or battery charging.
