Hi
Just a thought, I have a hitch cover which 'sort of' covers the two 12N & 12S cables on the A frame. However every now and then I've noticed that the connectors are wet and I have to strip them down to dry them out. Does anyone know of any tried and tested solution to this; covers of some kind for example? What do you do to prevent this happenning?
Many thanks.

I usually try to insert them under the A Frame cover and wrap them round the rubber bellow part of the hitch. In doing this I always try to have them pointing upwards so that rainwater can't run down the cables and into the plugs.... This always seem to keep them dry but as a back up, you could always tie them up inside a carrier bag (using the handles) as well, and pop that under the A frame cover. I would also dry off the plugs if they are wet to avoind problems with condensation. A squirt of water repellent WD40 wouldn't do any harm either.
Hope this helps

Paul

With a new caravan or fitting a new plug, the first thing i do is take the plug apart, check connections and liberally pack with silicon grease, or Vaseline.
This helps prevent corrosion.
Then i spray the pins with silicon.
Finally lift the ALKO lever up and just pass the plug through, don't allow it to drop to the floor, place the hitch cover over.
Never had a problem since i did this.
Also use silicon on the car socket.

Thats the reason for packing inside the plug.
