They do a nice selection of caravans not too sure about that Teardrop one though !! small twin axle one is nice , I did notice a few weeks ago we were in Holland that only the Brits seem to keep our vans nice and white and clean all the foreign ones that come in are old and don't seem to be kept in very good nik , 1 had a Hitch on the front of his caravan didn't even look safe!! And a lot of hobby Caravans not big ones , 2 births, never seen so many.

When we decided to sell our Trigano Silver 420DD and go back to a conventional caravan we looked at the Caravelair Antares 455 which had only just been introduced into UK by Marquis group. One reason that we looked at it was that the build quality of the Trigano was very good and the Antares came from the same group. For its price and MRO it was extremely good, but in the end we opted for a used Sprite as the layout gave more space albeit by having to make ups front double at night. One thing that really did impress with Antares 455 was its MRO was below 1000kg but payload could be over 300kg. There was even an option to downgrade payload! So the Caravelair range has caught onto the fact that some people want low weight, good payload and comfortable features. It will be interesting to see the full specification for UK models, I suspect that the drinks chiller, 42 inch tv etc will have eroded the payload.

Most seem to be niche caravans and some layouts are not to our liking. When it comes time to change we will look around but we want a reasonably local dealer and that rules a lot of these out.

Odd that the world's largest caravan manufacturer wasn't given a mention!
Hobby produces over 100 caravans a day from it's hi-tec factory in Schleswig-Holstein in Germany.
We just returned from a trip in Holland and most of the caravans on the large campsite were Hobby's.

Hobby will not sell the numbers here that they do elsewhere until they take the market seriously. If you look at their adverts their agency numbers are minimal and for most people a long, long drive away. Their range is huge but all are continental spec and you simply cannot see the ones that might suit you best in most cases as the dealers are simply taking orders based on the spec sheet.
To seriously attack the UK market they need a better spread of dealers and a smaller range of UK specific models which will have a battery box and other things our market requires.
Given the state of the pound against the Euro though, they may not think it is worthwhile at this time, and I can understand that. For the moment they seem to be happy with just a toe in the market, sending over any caravans you care to order from their range but no more.
