Hello, i have a regulator fitted to the bulkhead for my gas bottles, the end of the hose has a screw on fitting to suit 4.5kg bottles but the area to take the bottles is marked 7kg but the only 7kg bottles i can get have a clip on/push on fitting what do i need to do to convert so i can use 7kg bottles as the price of the gas is £13.50 for 4.5 and £15 for 7kg so it makes sense to use 7kg

It is possible to get an adaptor from the female screw-on butane connection to a clip on. However, if you intend to use the 'van early or late in the season or, as we do, all year round, then I would recommend that you change to propane cylinders. These will work in cold weather, whereas butane will be slow to gas at around 4 degrees C.

This will mean that you need to change the pigtail that connects the cylinder to the regulator. This will also allow you to use 6Kg Calorlite cylinders which have a gross weight similar to 4.5kg butane cylinder.

Alternatively, you could consider the BP lightweight cylinders but check that you have enough space in the locker as these have a larger diameter.

Hope this helps.

I do not understand this one fully. I have the 7kg butane cylinders and also a bulkheaded regulator. The connection is a screwed high pressure hose to the clip on tap for the cylinder.

So why not just change the hose and use your existing cylinders? Using propane is fine if you do a lot of cold weather camping, but if a summer bird then the swop is not worth it.

If your pig tail has the screw end that the 3.5kg connector screws onto try Gaslow's web site they do several different connectors that replace that willreplace the 3.5kg connector, otherwise you will have to replace the pig tail (rubber hose)you can then decide if you want to use butane or propane
