I am not one to knock our Police officers but every caravan travelling this time of year after 9pm deserves some close scrutiny.

It seems like the dealership may have been chosen because of it's lax security; a wake-up call for all perhaps.
I doubt that the police have the powers to stop late night travellers.

I think you will find our police can stop anyone if they have reasonable suspicion. That’s why we don’t require random breath test laws.

Like Dodger says , the security looked non existent ! It wouldnt bother me in the slightest if i got pulled over for a check whilst night time towing

Late night, local traffic car at 2:30 AM ...

PC Newbie: “Wake up Sarg, there’s a caravan up ahead with no lights on, swinging off the back of a transit van with one of the rear doors open and the tow hitch is glowing orange. Shall we pull him Sarg, shall we ?”

PS Longtime: “Naah - You’re havin’ a laugh aren’t ya ... Not if you wanna get back to your wife and kids ... Just keep drivin’ - There’ll be at least 3 of them, armed with knives, a gun, an angry Staffordshire bull terrier, and with nothing to lose. Better pull back a bit ‘cos they’ll be turning in here anyway, but never mind that, I thought we were off to McDonalds, our shift finishes in 3 hours”

PC Newbie: “Oh yeah, sorry Sarg, I forgot”

PS Longtime: “You’ve a lot to learn son - Oh, and don’t you even think about reporting this one - there’s no way I’m following that up on tomorrow’s shift. Anyway, get your foot down, there’s a good reason we’re drivin’ a 540i - It’s double cheeseburger night, and don’t forget, it’s your shout ! “
