A little concerned

Although we should be proud that we as a group are seen as important enough to be continually attacked by certain ex members of this site I am a little concerned for these ex members.

It cannot be healthy to obsess so much about anonymous people on a discussion board to the level that you are willing to spend a lot of time creating accounts just to do it again. There really is a great world out there full of great people, some may even like you and your sense of humour. If not then there are some good services available that may help. The continual attacks do not bother me, in fact, like LB I am honoured to be so important to be called some of the names I was last night. What last night did highlight was how this group will stick together and turn the rantings into a lot of fun. Well done all.

Also a quick note to Mod1 and Mod2, well done for the quick removal of the postings. For them to be removed before I had a chance to read them all is very impressive when you consider I spend so much time on the PC at the moment.

It stared about 9:45pm and I seen all the posting like you & L, B it dues not bother me. Intact it me go ha ha ha ha because he sounds like a old record now.

Spent yesterday morning in the hospital having the frame modified so that as of 6am this morning I start to adjust it. For the next 10 days I have to turn a bolt a quarter of a turn every 6 hours. The aim is to lengthen the one side of the leg by 10mm.

Once that is done and is confirmed by xray, they will lock the frame off and the healing begins. Should have the frame off in another operation in 12 weeks, maybe a little sooner if all goes well.

That put me off corn flakes that means I have to wait till I get to college and have a big fry up there only got to wait till 08:00 to get it then its in to class at 08:30 with a cup of coffee at the side.

Each turn is only a 1/4 of a mm so no pain at all. But just to be safe I would wait for the big fry up later..

Hi Steve

I have seen this procedure on the TV - am I right in thinking it was the Russians that developed this technique?

I am sure that about 6 or 7 years ago there was a report on a person who needed one leg to be made longer after an accident left one leg shorter than the other and this surgeon who had seen what the Russians did tried it and it worked.

So I suppose that as long as the two broken ends of the bone are kept a little apart by moving them regularly the body just keeps filling in the gap with new bone growth until the desired length is achieved?

Sounds amazing!

The way the specialist explained it to me was that you break the bone, then wait 10 days until it has started to heal then move it slowly. this stretches the newly created bone and causes more to be grown very quickly. the result is that a 10mm gap can be spanned in just 10 days.

The end result for me is to move the load on my knee to the one side, away from old damage.

Just a tip.

Turn the bolts by hand forget the caravanners favourite.

Socket on the end of battery drill!

Joking apart, I know of a guy who had the same treatment and it worked fine.

The drill is a cheap option. When the consultant handed me the allen key to adjust the frame with, he said "don't loose that" its

Well god only knows what is so special about the Allen key for it to cost
