So for the last few weeks i have been thinking about buying maybe a 4 berth tourer to live in after work and sleep in at night.
I would keep this in the private gargae at the abck of our house which is shared by the surrounding houses about 7-8 houses and is secured via lock and key the area is rather larger anyway.

i would use all the utilities inside the hosue which is lcoated around 10-20 meters away but i have several questions.

1. Could i connect things such as the electric equipment such as lights using an extenion lead from the house or is there a better way?
2. is it hard to strip out all the seat, cookign area sink and etc and is there much to be fixed after? i would like as much room as possible for a bed and seating area at night.

i thought about doing this as the family is currently divided as my dad is living at my grandads as there isnt enough room in the house but if i do this then there will be a spare bed for him and i really dont mind as long as i can get my essientials that i do anyway such as pc tv bed and etc.

thanks sam

I think you would run into problems as the area is shared by others, and your intended use may be contrary to local authority rules about what can and what cannot be done in such areas, and it only takes one neighbour to complain and the ball is set in motion.

As for running electrics via an extension lead, it can be done, but you are limited by the 13Amp rating of the fuse,it would have to be suitable cable for outdoor use, and if it crosses an open area, it would need protecting against damage or interference.

Removing the internal fittings is fraught with problems as they give the van its structural integrity.
There are a lot of "Grey " areas which you would have to investigate before making a final decision.

Another point worth noting is will it fit through the door. Most caravans are about 8ft high including the aerial but most garages are far lower.
