Firstly i would like to hi to my new community.

I am extremely new to this but need the experts on here to help. I bought an Abi Award Globestar 1994 4/5 birth... it came without the user manual and other than plugging the hookup into my house i have not tried all utilities. I know stupid of me... Anyone tell me alittle bit about the stuff under the front seat, electrics etc... like i say new to this but that shouldnt excuse the stupidity of buying before testing everything..... Also anyone know how i can get hold of a user manual, the manafactures dont make tourers anymore.

Many thanks in anticipation for your help.

Peter

Hello Peter,
Welcome to the world of caravanning.
1994 ABI ummm, almost twenty years old. I cant remember too much about the ABI models, but it shouldnt be too complicated. Hopefull someone may have a copy of a hand book or you might find the Haynes caravan manual very helpfull. Good luck.

Thanks Prof John.... The Caravan is parked in a private yard and i fear it may stay there until i feel comfortable enough to deel with anything technical.. I have sorted out the delamination but how to swap from mains to leisure battery gets me and the gas, water dont even want to contemplate that.... I feel like Richard III but instead of horse i need desparetly a user manual or someone with a similar abi to hold my hand.

If you take photos of the van's various equipments (both inside the van and outside) and controls and post them on here, then perhaps people will recognise them and tell you how they work.

Don't know how close the ABI Jubilee Herald is, I have this van and it's a 1994.

I have most of the manuals that was with the van from new. If you would like copies of them it can be arranged.

This is what is under the fron seat, when i press thesilver boc on right from 0 - 1 the mains comes on but not sure how the leisure battery kicks in.. dont know what the other boxes ar for or how to use.

In essence, and you may have gathered, i have little idea about what does what in the caravan.... the switching from the mains to battery and gas is all confusing.. have tried my leisure battery but not sure if there is life in it.. i guess not.

Many many thanks for bearing with me.

Right lets have a go at some of this
First off as you brought off ebay I would advise you get the van serviced the engineer will use a check list to go through every thing
from tyres to damp to electrics and gas leaks, (You could also use him to your advantage ask him loads of questions)
Dont know what area you are in but there ate mobile engineers all over the country, prices vary but as a guide we paid £180.00
plus parts last year.

Yeah have all those, have tested Gas, heater works and air blowers, cooker also works. Not sure if Gas does the Fridge though???
Look in the fridge and see if there is a glass "spy hole" this is where you will see the pilot light when lit. Dont know how to ignite yours at this stage, sorry
I have am aquaroll, and have a chrystal maxi pump, but not sure if it for the aquaroll for the waiste... stupid i know
The pump goes inside your aquarol when full of water and on the outside of teh van you will have a flap that lifts up and the pump will connect there.when the pump switch is turned on and you turn a tap on the water should flow, thats the basic's for now (you may encounter air locks and gurgling but come back to us if that occurs)

Not sure on most of the following

This is what is under the fron seat, when i press thesilver boc on right from 0 - 1 the mains comes on but not sure how the leisure battery kicks in.. dont know what the other boxes ar for or how to use.

This could be the main switch for the water heater, but only a guess from me at this stage, make sure you have pumped water into the stystem before switching this one on

This is above the cooker and when mains on not sure what the Car/van button is,
When in the van switch to van, when hooked up to car switch to car and the fridge should work as you travel to sites

This again is above the cooker and not sure about the pump button
This could be the pump button I refered to earlier, switch it on for water

The van should have two lots of lighting and at this stage to check the battery disconnect the mains cable and try some of the lights
normally at least two should be on the battery. Then switch them off, connect mains cable and try the rest of the lights.

Hope some of this is of some help, good luck and come back to us with any other questions

Many many thanks for bearing with me.

Peter
