Hi Hugh. I think you will find that most owners of "flat roof" 'vans, do park with the unit on a tilt, to enable water to drain quickly from roof. I always park up, when in storage, with nose down a fair amount. Depends on 'van design, some park nose up, so to speak. This minimises static water and algae growth etc.

Hope this reassures you.

Regards

Dave

Hi hugh

I own a Bailey Ranger 460/4 i have noticed and it does concern me is the flat roof. Water tends to lay in puddles on the roof around the seals. Thats where the two ABS panels back and front are jointed up on the roof. Also the large sky light. I noticed on hot days the roof ripples but i gess this is to do with metal getting hot and expanding.

I have also been told from the dealer is the norm.

All the best Steve & Janet

Hi Hugh,

As the roof design is a semi bonded roof by that I mean the roof construction is a laminated panel (timber, plywood and insulation), but the aluminium roof sheet is loose laid and secured around the perimeter and by the attachments in it (e.g. roooflights, aerials etc).

As the roof is loose laid it will expand and contract so some undulations should be expected and therefore some standing water is normal. However, with the van level I would not expect standing water to enter via the skylights or Heki rooflights, it shouldnt puddle this much.

I think its good advise to put the van into storage slightly nose down to allow standing water to drain and not build up. Hugh If you are still concerned I would ask your dealer to have another look at the roof and satisfy you this is the case,

Hope this helps,

Thanks

Andy

Hugh, l have 2008 Ace Firestar, how do you find yours.

We are pleased with ours, apart from the dreaded front window problem as posted on this forum but that should be replaced in July.

Everything about the van is wonderful just sorry that Swift have discontined the model.
