Adults?

Advice please. At what age do youngsters become adults in the eyes of the Caravan Club i.e. If I wanted to site my van on a club site and let my daughter and a friend stay for four days would that be acceptable as they are both 18? The reason I ask is that if I wanted to park my van on a Haven site (which I don't really) there would have to be a 25 year old with them in the van in case they caused trouble on the park. Obviously there's no way I'd leave them in charge of my van if I thought for a minute they would cause trouble or cause offence to other caravanners. They are both responsible intelligent girls who just want a few days away after A levels and before uni.

Forgot to say we'd be there at the beginning and end of the week but can't get full week off work, so we would be around for some of the time.

Valerie,

I would give Caravan Club Head Office a ring on Monday.

There could be a couple of issues. Age is one. Then do they have membership cards in their own name? May not be a problem on a non member site.

By contacting the Club you will avoid any problems.

Hi Valerie.

Hamer is right to refer you to head office for clarification.

It has been my experience that it is often adults and jobsworths, who can be the most disruptive occupants of any site.

For example I had cause to speak to a group of 4 adults at 1am saturday about both the volume of noise (drunken loud conversation) and the fact they were burning wood causing the flames to light up the 6 caravans adjacent to them. Then the next morning they allowed their children (all under 10) to race their bycicles around the roadways which are loose stone.

By the way the site is aimed at adults and infact the seasonal campers are classed as adult only. But the casual campers are only told there are no play facilities.

I'm quite sure that your daughter and her friend have already had a "pep talk" from you and the other parents involved, just to remind them of their adult expectations, as you certainly seem the responssible type to me.

Hopefully the club and site warden will see common sense prevail and give an equal chance to youngsters to prove their adulthood.

ATB Steve L.

BTW I'm not a member of either club as they are a bit too jobsworth for me and I'm a responsible 50 year old.
