When I click on 'Search site' I get an 'Advanced Search' button, but when I click on that it goes back to the 'Search site' result. Does this only happen for me? If not, what is the intent of the 'Advanced search' button?

Lutz, I gave up trying to figure that out a long time ago.
I have absolutely no idea how the basic search works, never mind advanced.
Maybe Parksy can shed some light on it, he has more time to "fiddle" with the forum bits and pieces, and is far more computer savvy than me.

I just tried a simple search and put in "truma" in the search box and came up with lots of caravan reviews, nothing at all to do with Truma...

The basic search only works (up to a point) if you know exactly what you are looking for but it can sometimes be quite difficult to find a specific post.
With carefully chosen keywords it's sometimes (but not always) possible to access posts about specific subject matter.

The problem can be that if we enter a general word such as Truma we get 9 forum pages worth going back to 2004 with unrelated posts such as caravan reviews which happen to mention the word Truma so it can be tricky and time consuming to narrow the search down to specifics.

The moderator search interface is slightly different to the normal version although unfortunately it's not much better.

As far as I can tell the advanced search facility is operating in a similar way on either version in exactly the same way as the normal search, it doesn't appear to do anything differently.
If the words Truma heater tripping are entered in either the normal or advanced search mode the results are the same for either, they are more specific and we get 3 pages worth of old posts going back to 2004 which is less to trawl through.
The technical staff don't appear to have been given time to rectify the minor faults and niggles which tend to spoil what ought to be a really good user friendly forum.
Not their fault but it's a pity that they weren't allowed to finish the work on this forum before they moved on to other projects.
If I can find any more information I'll let you know but don't hold your breath.

I tried some very specific chosen keywords, sadly the keywords I chose were not even listed on the PCV database, but that was probably down to the keywords I chose, which I am not going to tell you what they were
