My husband and me early 40's have just brought an American dodge campervan, to do a little touring with our 13 yrs old. I.e. Weekends away to touring possible. we've been looking to join a camping club but are getting very much mixed reviews about camper-vans. We also have a drive away awning and would prefer smaller camp sites, really hate lots of unruly kids "sorry". Can anyone suggest which club might be best to suit? We've never done this before and ideas or advice most welcome
Thank you
Julie

Welcome to the Forum Julie.
As WC says join one or both of the clubs.
Their CS s and CLs are exactly what you want

hi Julie. as an ex motorhomer, we found the caravan club better, it is difficult to make recommendations as everyone's requirements are different, however using a motorhome is slightly different from either a caravan or a tent, and requires a different approach. both clubs are good and both have small 5 vans sites, but on booking in the caravan club allocate you a pitch, the camping club doesn't, some prefer this as you get to choose, but there is nothing stopping someone pinching your carefully chosen level pitch when you go out for the day, [happens a lot on busy sites] also a lot of sites dont have level pitches but the caravan club seems to have more hard standings ideal for the camper van.
also look for small private sites these can can be very good at catering for the motorhome, and ask about utilities when booking sites, it can be difficult sometimes to charge the water and empty the waste when the waste and water points are hidden behind the toilet block or behind someone's pitch.
as for unruly kids, afraid you will find them anywhere, it is pot luck even on small sites. it is no good while you have a 13yo but in 3 years when they are 16 and technically an adult you can then use adult only sites. no kids on there just the odd unruly dog, and unruly OAP to bother about.
good luck and happy camping.

Isn't it the other way around?? ;)

whatever. B) could be :S either way it is bloody annoying when you go out and and find there's nowhere to put your unit cos the only nice level pitch you chose is occupied when you return, back from day out.
edit, it was usually a tent by the way, reason we chose the CC. but that could have been on private sites can't remember it's been a while old age and all that,  everything else is worth noting.
