aerial booster.

Hi There, Compass Conniessur 1996, whilst away in the van was going to use Status aerial for the T.V. but when i checked the booster in the cupboard it normally has a red on light but this was not on, even though it was switched on.Decided to use my aerial on the pole instead.Any ideas has to what to check,would it be the small bulb or power failure to the booster.Thanks.

Hi Fred

I had a similar problem myself recently. Assuming that you have checkerd the power supply to the booster, I suggest that you try your TV on the system and see if you get a picture. If you do then it is the red LED that has gone but if no picture then I'm afraid it's the unit that has failed. This was the case with mine and had to get a new unit at a cost of £25.00. I was surprised that my local caravan dealer had them in stock but he told me that he sells quite a lot. This says a lot for the booster doesn't it.
If getting a new one, make sure it is the correct one from a choice of two.

Hi John, Further to the booster , it runs of an auxilery fuse, which i checked, that was ok. Next i disconnected the coaxial plug from the booster{Anti-in} and the red led came on so the coaxial lead is shorting it out. Thanks.

Tread a little carefully as I have read recently that the earlier "boosters" function differently to the current ones. The earlier units drove an actual booster in the aerial, the current ones do the actual boosting within the unit. I believe they have a different colour marking.
Anyway in your position I would definitely ask Grade's customer services for guidance; there is a very helpful friendly chap there so of the contact options I would speak to them on this type of issue rather than email.
