Hi, have Lunar Clubman SE with the Alde heating system, the expansion tank and 12v pump are located in the side wardrobe. for most of this year since purchase it has been used in France, ie hot water only, on return to UK and a cooler temp put on the full heating system. No problems everything gets hot as it should only problem is there is a boiled chemical smell in the wardrobe, in stinks quite a bit, checked the usual, bleed the system, checked the level all ok, it just stinks in the wardrobe. anyone had any similar problem or could offer any solution.

Having some respiritory problems I would like to know if this 'smell' problem is common with Alde heating as it is fitted to two of the vans on my 'next caravan' shortlist. If common or likely it would disqualify them immediately. Thanks for any feedback, paarticularly about use on the high heat settings.

No the Alde should be by far the less prone to smell as the heat exchangers [radiators] only get up to a maximum of 80 C often much cooler so dust will never burn on them like it does on the air heat exhanger used in Truma "S" type units..
There is virtually no difference between the Alde water system and the normal domestic water circuit heating system.
Just dont over fill them.
