hi i tow a 1998 compass omega will a 2000 nissan terrano 2.7tdi i bought and fitted the alko 3004(new in box) and was a great success until i arrived at my first site on which when i was going under 30mph i could here a creaking and groaning from the caravan i fist thought it was the caravan brakes but when i put my hand on the alko while hooked-up and moving a cracking could be felt. at first i thought the alko pads were bedding in but have used caravan twice since them and noise is getting louder covered over 500 miles in total.

any advice greatful GARY

Hi Gary

I have the same Alko 3004 stabiliser and I was advised that every time that I hitch up I had to clean the tow ball and the pads in the stabiliser . I use nail varnish remover on a clean cloth but it did cure the problem I try and buy mine at the pound shop. There are other products you can use but unfortunately I can't remember

regards

Nick

Hi Gary - "creaking" at slow speed is not uncommon, at normal towing speeds it does not occur. I very often when arriving on site just release the pressure on the pads by raising the large lever - hey presto no problem. - John
