Alko Jocket Wheel Knob

The red knob on my Alko Jockey Wheel - as fitted to year 2000 Corniche 17/3 has come adrift because the collar which goes on to the metal shat has split - presumably frost damage.

The knob pushes on - it is not of the type with a push out insert and a spring washer.

The local Swift dealer cannot help nor can Alko.

The only suggestion I have had from them both is to buy a new jockey wheel, column and handle at a cost of around £50 - this seems a bit much to replace a knob which should only cost £1 or so.

Has anyone any bright ideas?

John

Same thing happened to my previous caravan. I simply put a jubilee clip round the lower part of the knob. As this was tightened up the split closed and prevented it from coming off.
