Alko Secure wheel lock question

We have these fitted to our twin axle and to get both lined up is just about impossible unless you jack up the caravan. As we both suffer from arthrits in our arms, wrists and hands to use a jack is just about impossible which is why we belong to Green Flag in case of a puncture.
To get around this we can fit the Alko secure onto either wheel and a wheel clamp onto the other wheel. Under these circumstances, is it better to fit the Alko Secure to the rear wheel and the clamp to the front wheel assuming we can get it around the motor mover.
My reasoning is if some one tried to uplift the caravan, if the Alko secure is on the front, they can lift the caravan high enough to move it. If on the rear, it would have to be dragged after they have removed the wheel clamp and hitchlock. The caravan is fitted with a tracker anyway in case someone asks. We have never had a caravan with Alko secure fitted.
I appreciate it may affect our insurance premium if both are not fitted.

You are best as you say fitting it to the rear wheels
Pyramid do a lock that fits either the Alko receiver or its own receiver come wheel wedge
Its much easier to line up as the bit that goes between the spoke is narrower and you can fit the Alko lock to it a swell
So you could use the Pyramid receiver on the axle not clamped by the Alko and you could fit it on either side of the caravan

Surfer, I normally put both of my locks on but fortunately I am mobile enough to be able to jack up the caravan with a Kojack bottle jack. I would guess that the wheel clamp will be the controlling factor as if it will not clear the mover you will have little choice but to put it on the rear axle. I've got a Millenco clamp (the big yellow one with two lower arms and one on top) and a Bulldog Q (can't remember the model) but they both fit on my Delta RS with an Enduro mover fitted. The Millenco will even fit over the top of the Alko Secure locks for double security (got it cheap off ebay so for the sake of £10 I may as well use it and effectively it gives 4 security devices across two axles if both Alko Secure locks are used). Nothing is going to stop thieves but it may slow then down a bit and make a bit more noise to wake me up!
As to the insurance I would check out a few. My Caravan Guard insurance insists I have both Alko Secure locks fitted as well as a hitch lock and the Phantom Tracker activated. I think CC are more flexible but in my case they were 50% more expensive.

As an afterthought have you looked at the E+P Level System as it has 12v powered hydraulic chassis jacks and corner steadies. I've not seen it in use myself except on a demo at the NES the other day. It looked simple to use for anyone with reduced mobility and would certanly make fitting the Alko Secure locks easier as well as levelling and streadying on site.

I have the same problem with the Wyoming but am still able enough to use a trolley jack. More weight in the car I know!
There is a "cheat" method providing you are on gravel or grass and have of course got your transverse level correct.
I assume you have a mover but you can do this with the tow car. My Powrtouch mover only works on one axle not both.
Get one wheel lined up first and the use the car or mover to drag the locked wheel until the lock lines up. Against the rules , yes, but it does work.
If you intend only using one Al-ko lock , put it on the rear axle.#
Also if using a combination of locks tell your Insurers and get their ok.

I have the same problem with my Lunar Delta and also have arthritis in my hands. I have tried a trolly jack and that is a nightmare. My mover is on the front wheels .The way i do it is to line up the rear wheel put the clamp on ,then with the mover drag the van forward till the front wheels line up, put the clamp on , job done.

Hi. I have twin Alko wheel locks. I am insured with the Caravan Club. I decided it was too much trouble to use both, so I rang the insurer and told them I would not be using them. The premium went up less than £2. I just use one Alko lock on the front axle and my older wheel lock on the rear. Regards Ron

Arrived on site yesterday and pitch slightly sloping so levelled up the caravan only to find none of the holes lined up so had to start all over again with levelling. Right pain in the rear! I can see us dumping the Alko secure most times and only using it when in storage. Makes you realise that the person who designed it has never been caravanning!

What you need are levelling blocks that are level at the top such as the Milenco ones in this pic from Leisure Shop Direct
You can move them from behind the wheel to in front until the wheel is in the right position before adding the top block(or not)
I have the Fiamma ones but they are no longer available nor do they have the tyre saver top block

Not sure if they are suitable for a twin axle. Otherwise they seem to be the answer as you can still move the van to line up the receivers.

I use 39" x 4" x1" wooden planks. Both wheels on my TA fit with room for manoeuvre. So once I am laterally level I can still move or drag / push with no problem.
