Another 13 pin socket concern

On returning home from Norfolk I had tested all the rear lights before leaving, working OK, but when half way back having pulled into a layby, for some reason I recheked the back lights to find the brake lights not working, and of course you have no indication whilst on the move that they are not operating. I uncoupled the 13 pin socket and reconnected same, brake lights working again.
So to prevent this problem repeating it self I have fitted a LED indicator light on the caranvan which now tells me that they are working, this LED can been seen from the off side door mirror on the move.
Beware caravaners Brake Lights are vital

Excellent idea Alan.
Could you describe briefly please how you did this?
When we go away,I usually go on my own to collect the caravan from storage ready for the holiday and it would be a good idea to be able to check the brake lights if the wife wasnt there.
Many thanks,Adrian

Hi Adrian,
The condition you say when collecting the van must happen many times,
I drilled an 8mm hole in the low positioned front reflector on my Swift, fitted a LED, passed the wiring into the caravan and picked up the stop light feed wire inside near the fuse box, job done, note, this will not tell you if all the brakelight bulbs fail but thats not likely.
Regards Alan
