Another van over on the M6

Well J32 northbound of the M6 claimed another victim today, a van went over and shut 2 lanes, i'm not here to preach or criticise but if you go up that way please please please be careful, I use the M6 everyday up there and it can be a nasty bit of road, down the dip past Preston then up the otherside, as the road splits into 2 for the M55 and the M6 it's bumpy and you always get the idiots that leave it to the last minute to change lanes and cause chaos for everyone else.
I don't know the circumstances around the crash and i'm not guessing either all I know is it was very windy and wet up there today and for some reason people don't seem to slow down when it's like that.
I do hope they are all ok.

Martin.

I was travelling up that way this morning but got off at Leyland - the matrix signs were 'flagging' the accident back before Manchester and it was also on the Travel News - yes it was a bit windy but I wouldn't have thought it would have been enough to seriously affect - might have been a blow out or evasive action ?
I did think I was about to see another as I came back south, just short of Charnock Richard services over on the Northbound I saw a caravan coming off the hard shoulder at about 10mph right in front of a 40' artic - luckily the truck driver saw it happening and just managed to squeeze out into the middle lane, I thought I was about to see the van pulverised - What goes through peoples minds ? They were driving on the Motorway prior to stopping on the hard shoulder, how can they not see the stupidity of pulling out some 40 to 50mph slower than an approaching vehicle (particularly one the size of truck) !
It really is time Motorway lessons were compulsory for all new drivers (& maybe for some older ones?)!

Surely common sense dictates that when re-joining the motorway from the shoulder, you should accelerate to the speed of the traffic, then move into lane 1

Never mind Common Sense it is one of the rules in The Highway Code, and is a part of joining the motorway from a Slip-On/On-Slip anyway.Doubtless The D**khead in question was not familiar with that bit because he/she was an exponent of speed reading and missed a bit!.
