Hi,

Has anyone been to Le Domaine des Ormes in France. We are thinking of trying it out next July. Is there plenty to do for a 13 year old boy? Any info would be great, Cheers.

Stayed here a few years ago, didn't like it but then I have a friend that did so its all down to taste. There are fishing lakes/ponds you can use. A nice swimming pool but it was not heated. They have a driving range for lovers of golf + a putting green and there is also an 18 hole golf course, all of which you have to pay extra for. Nothing else stands out in my memory of this site but generally if you don't enjoy something you dismiss it. I'm sure there are others that will disagree with me.

Hi Lisa

I agree with Mike but teenagers seem to like it. It's been five years since we went but, their restaurant was good, especially the gillets and cider which must go together. St Malo and Mont Sainte Michelle are good. I would split it with another site.ainte Michelle are good. I would split it wiith another site.

Hi Lisa,

We found it a great site with a superb swimming pool complex. My boys loved it. The golf course is top class and there is a nice bar and restaurant both on site and at the golf course. St Malo and Mont St Michelle is only a short drive away. For me the only downside is that the weather can be poor. I would rather go further south to be sure of getting the sun. Thanks for that Mac,

Can you recommend any where south with plenty to do for a teenager? Not really bothered where we go as long as the kids are happy! Cheers

You will find that on most sites in France teenagers have meeting places and make their own fun. The most popular is the tables tennis areas or football fields. They meet up make friends and become pains, why ? because you can nevr find them to do what you want to do, like go out site seeing or to the beach. But as you say as long as they enjoy it your happy. As for further south, how far south ? and in what area. Select an area and do an internet search, you get loads to pick from. Happy hunting.

Hi Lisa,

Bonne Anse Plage at La Palmyre is a brilliant site worth checking out. Again there is a great swimming pool with water slides, floodlit football pitch, tennis courts, games room with table tennis, There are plenty cycle tracks and great beaches for bodyboarding nearby. Try their website www.campingbonneanseplage.com

Went there last August with our 4 children and we all thoroughly enjoyed our boys were 13, 12, 4 and 1. The oldest two went off on their own most of the time and as mentioned the only awkward thing was finding them and trying to get them to leave the site for a bit of sight seeing, they were enjoying themselves so much. The football pitch was a big draw and they spent many hours there. The swimming pools were excellent, if a bit cold, but that doesn't seem to bother kids.

We were lucky with our pitch as we were up by the cricket pitch and top 'pond', but saw several caravans and tents in awful locations in amongst huge trees, very dark and dingy. (I suppose it depends what you like but bare this in mind if you book - be specific as to what sort of pitch you're after).

Avoid going the end of June. The campsite was brilliant and the facilities good , but it was marred by a group of scottish Taxi drivers who thought it was highly amusing to keep everyone awake until 4.00am.

Weve been to les Ormes twice in the last five years, mainly because of our teenagers. They both loved it and made many friends while they where there. Camp security was very supportive bringing girls home in the early hours. It is a family site. Our two are not likely to come with us again and so we will not be likey to revisit, unless it is to play at the very good golf course. I found the staff and members there to be very friendly.
