Hi

Can't help with a site but Padstow itself is very nice some nice craft shops there, however, during the peak seasons, it gets manic. Each time we go, we struggle to get a parking space, etc, etc.

Takeaway fish and chips at Steins is a bit pricy, never tried it as people queue down the street. The restaurant is pricy too but we are trying it this year.

There's a nice beach at Rock which isn't too far away.

Tintagel is close too, you can visit the ruins of the castle. If you need to, you can take a land rover down to the little cove there and swim too. Land rovers will take you back, small charge each way.

I actually like that part of Cornwall.

forget it, rammed in the summer and big style rip off...go across the bay Wadebridge area.. inland camel valley, or a bit more north.

Agree with Le Croc,

"Padstein" is one big expensive rip off. We like the area however and always stay at Trewethett Farm CC site between Boscastle and Tintagel. Port Isaac is a very pretty place without inflated prices! DO NOT take your caravan into Port Isaac.

Cheers

ive been going to cornwall and the padstow area since i was a child. now padstein is so commercialised and so busy. when we was last down there we checked out all the local sites and i wasnt impressed.

were going to carnon downs site, between falmouth and truro which i have also checkout last time i was down there its fantastic. there is a site called watergate bay touring park i think that has good reviews but its about 10 miles from padstow.

there is a couple of CL's sort of port issac and tintagel sort of way that ave toilets and showers and 16amp you would be better off going on one of them. the tintagel cc site is beautiful but can be very windy.

let you know what you choose

We you use to love Cornwall, Caravaning, Hotels and Cottages, we found it got to expensive, as for TV Chefs all they want is your well earned cash, over priced not good value.

Find a local eating house much better value, or do what we have done given the M5 corrider the boot and gone for Norfolk, Yorkshire, or Cumbria.

we are going for the mayday celebrations this year, something we have wanted to do for some time. We are staying at the padstow touring park, purely because its within easy walking distance. We hired a house for many years on the other side of the estuary, just outside Rock. Love that part of cornwall.

Agree with all the comments about Padstein , however if you must go try parking in Rock and catching the ferry over , Adds a bit of difference to the day out.

We tend to stay at the C&CC site at Tegurrian (Watergate Bay) and its an easy short drive to Padstein

Been to Padstow last year. Its good enough for a short visit. Ricks chippy is expensive and theres always a long queue. We stayed in Camelford (Truckle Valley CC site). The C&CC club site in Bodmin is nice too and the wardens are very pleasant.

For us, Tintagel provided us with a better day out though, but thats just a personal preference.

A day out at Daymer Bay is highly recommended if you like leaches. This one is lovely and unspoilt with cliff top walks. Don't take the caravan down though - single track road in places that's not for the faint-hearted!

Padstow is great, very busy as you'd expect during the school hols but other wise just the same as any other classic town in Cornwall.

Loads of fantastic beaches and easy access to the rest of Cornwall.

Like John, I'd highly recommend Trewince farm which is a family run site on a working farm. Small often quiet swimming pool, good toilet facilities and a small shop.

Not far from Wadebridge including Tesco.

walking distance from 1 decent pub.

Reasonable charges.

lovely out of the main season but like any decent site it will be full during the school hols.

If you don't mind paying a premium try http://www.motheriveysbay.com/

It is very expensive but a wonderful location and beutifully kept. No fancy facilities, just a small shop.

Right on the coast path and direct access to the lovely beach. Also easy walk to Constantine bay, or Harlyn bay so no reason to drive the car.

If you like the look of the web site, then you'll love it. You will need deep pockets though.

We went to Harlyn Sands last year and have booked again for this August.

Loads of local attractions, including padstow which is nice if a little busy!!

The camel trail is a nice easy bike ride (you can hire locally).

Loads of TIC centres where you can brouse the fliers for all the attractions.

Padstow a very lovely place if the weather is nice if not its the pits. We went last year and you know how bad the weather was 2 weeks sunshine the hole year. We came back early after getting flooded out.Awning damaged by very very high winds.

BUT do not let me put you off. If the weather is good its great.
