Well, with hubby stranded in Scotland, and being housed in the Marriot hotel in Edinburgh, I decided to do some checking on the council tax banding.

Well, what do you think I found, every house in our close (being 20) is band E, we are the only ones on a higher tax band, when I say we there are four of us with the same house style. All the houses are the same (4 beds) just different disigns, one of the other house disigns has a double detached garage and a band below.

We will certainly be appealing now. the difference between bands is £400 a year.

Anyway my eyes are tired now doing all that research so I'm off to put my feet up with a nice cup of tea.

The properties were assessed from an external viewing and in my case I have a 3 bedroomed bungalow whilst some of the neighbours have 5 bedroomed houses and granny flat. The whole cul-de-sac (20 properties) are all in band F. Apparantly they stood at the end of the road and looked down the street. The bugalows are tucked away in the corner of the cul-de-sac and cannot be viewed from the entrance - they assumed that all properties were of a similar design. B*****d crooks.

How did you manage to find the information on your neighbours - is there a web site?

Hi Cloin

I went into ITV and looked at the Trevor Macdonald tonight programme.

Everything you need to know is on the page below.

But there is an easy way to see everybodies banding in one click.

When you key in your post code on the second page only pu the first half of your postcode in and it will bring up all houses at the same time.

You can also apply for banding if your only a 3 bd bung. That seems like a good reason to me.

Let me know how you get on.

As soon as we know I will post.

Any questions just ask, sorry I've only just replied.

By the way if they do change you to a lower band you get your money back....
