On the last page of the magazine is an article relating to a "green" caravan. I read and accepted the article with the humour intended as I took it as being an April fool's joke. However thinking about it there could be an idea here. Why cannot the caravan wheel be driving an alternator by means of a belt, which in turn could charge the battery and also keep the fridge cool. This could help keep the battery topped up for site use without EHU. Just a thought. MY IDEA SO HANDS OFF PLOTTER - better than a "smokealoo"

Near StPalais sister and I saw a British "Caravanning Anorak" set up his caravan and awning followed by 40 minutes of Sat Dish cussing before his wind genny was mounted on a pole and staked out with guy wires.

We waited ten days to see it turn at more than about 1 revolution per hour. Unless caravanning on Ben Nevis in a gale I wouldn't bother.

The drag produced would probably result in increased fuel consumptio which would more than cancel out any benifit. If you must have 2 lesuire batteries why not just have an additional charging point in the boot of the tow car.

Nice thought Colin, but doesn't the 12S plug do that already?

As for wind generators, a bag of fresh sprouts would do better!!!

Most alternative energy sources are not able to reach consumer demand and be practical.

However I do applaude people who re-cycle and try to adopt a more efficient approach to energy consumption.

What ever happened to the welsh chip oil recyler who turned old chip shop oil into an alternative diesel fuel? I expect the men fron the portcullis dept came and siezed his "chains and chattles".

The uk seems to not wish to promote and help those who want to be more eco friendly, but to slap a tax on them just in case the idea becomes a good one.

Colin, its all yours as its a silly idea anyway that clearly is impractical and will not work.As for comparing it to the Smokaloo well what can I say when this and the Hovercrap are both tried and tested,I assume that this is sour grapes because you were kicked of the board following your departure to Studland.lol
