Lets assume that you are on a site miles away from home and you come to connect up your 13 pin socket and the ATC light starts flashing red. This means you cannot travel with the ATC connected and that you have to remove the pushrod according to the instructions.
This creates a problem for us as we have no idea where the pushrod is located and secondly even if we knew where it was neither one of us would be able to remove it. Would we have to call Green Flag (Mayday) or enlist the help of a local mechanic. That is if either of them would know what to remove.
We had an issue this past weekend where the 13 connector literally came apart in my hands when fitting it onto our car and the ATC kept coming on red once I put the 13 pin connector back together again. apparently a numebr fo people have had issues with the new 13 pin connectos. We had a 13 pin adaptor since 2004 and never had an issue with theplug. Needless to say we were very concerned about being forced to stay an extra day or two on site!

Hi surfer.
I have also had this happen that when you connect up the light flashes red. What i do is disconnect wait 15 secs then reconnect and then touch wood has always went green. This has happened more than once and every time on reconnecting has gone green.

Dougie....

Had to disconnect ours when car supply failed due to bad connection leaving the ATC locked on.You have to access the ATC unit near the brake cable undo the 2 bolts,13mm iirc and when its loose pull the rod out then refix the ATC again.Bit fiddly did ours in a layby on the A5
As long as the wheels are not locked you could probably pull the car fuse that feed the caravan connection and drive on although I may be wrong. All this technology isnt always good news lol

Unfortunately as we both suffer with arthritis in our hands we do not have ahope in hell of removing the puh rod. I can't find anything in the manual that shows you what to do. If you had this you could show the Green Flag body what to do but the question is whether Green Flag would attend where the caravan only is at fault?

They will if it's CC Mayday, operated by Green Flag - but I doubt they do for direct customers as only the car is covered then.

Direct customers DO have trailer/caravan cover and in the OP's situation they would attend and sort the problem for them.

Hi all
Whenever ours has shown flashing red when i've coupled up one of two things cures it. Either disconnect the 13 way plug and re-connect it again or simply hop in the car and stick it in reverse moving back a foot and then in 1st moving forward a foot. These have never failed for me and I've always go the desired green after either.

Hope that helps

Dave
