Twinwoods Farm, Bedford. This is the site of the airfield from which the legendary Glenn Miller flew to meet his fate. There is a three day festival of his music with big bands, people in 1940s costume, jitterbugging, and a couple of flypasts featuring WW2 aircraft.

Unfortunately we will be in a hotel this year because we lost our caravan in the recent floods.

It is the 'Bank Holiday' here in Budapest this weekend. Place is full of tourists and sorry folks, it is hot and sunny.

There is an air race down the Danube where they fly under the bridges and a mountain of fireworks are to be set off on Monday night. Some of the bridges are closed to traffic and stalls are set up selling food and beer and of course wine at very low prices.

In addition all the shops are shut, none of this holiday trading here. Even IKEA is closed. Methinks they have the right idea.

Anyway, I hope the one next weekend in Blighty is a hot sunny one as well, and you all enjoy. Meanwhile it is back to the terrace and a cold beer.

Just to make it worse, I get paid as well. Mind you I will be giving it all up next year and going back to retirement, I am just getting too old for the hassle. I promised a year, and so a year it will be.

Thanks,lolly

Yes we are doing the rounds of the dealers at the moment, the insurance company have agreed to pay out 'new for old,' but the caravan was only 4 months old anyway.

The one I can't wait for is in September. We are going to Cae Du site near Tywyn. We saw it in the book of sites with sea views and the reviews I've read are very good. It's a few yards from the beach which has rock pools. Only 12 pitches though so we are lucky to get in. When I rang the farmer/owner he seemed very laid back, told us just to turn up :O)

The one after Tywyn is a week in October at Sherwood Forest Park then no more booked after that :O(

Lolly, I'm off to Sherwood on my annual pilgrimage to spend time with my mother and other members of my family who live locally. My mother only lives 2 miles from the site as the crow flies :O)

I am staying at home. I wouldn't contemplate going away for a Bank Holiday weekend. It's just too busy, besides, we live on the beautiful North Wales coast so why bother ! Lucky us, we are always driving the opposite way to the crowds of trippers !
